Guest pigeon82 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 i have a fed race tomorrow morning racing at 98 miles do you think the birds would be ok to do this then race on saturday at 139 miles or should i skip the fed race they also raced on saturday im not sure weather to send to both or skip fed race and send to roscrea which is at 139 miles on saturday
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 whys that is that in case its a bad race but then its the choice which to send lol i know itll be tough on saturday with mass lib but what i get back from tomorrow do i send on saturday or leave them till following week
pigeonpete Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Depends whether you want them as old birds? take them steady 1 race a week for ybs is enough, they will get to stressed, and you risk losing more/burning them out and for what? how many ybs you got? just send 4 or 5, then rest those 4/5 for saturday maybe? :-)
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 ive 14 but they all been there and i held 3 bacck last week as week before spent the night out
Guest Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 personally if all fit and healthy ,weather forecast is good would send them . but would not train at all this week . loft fly only on thursday ,rest and good food friday and off again on saturday . dont think they would be worn out come weekend ,but should be very fit. andy.
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 thanks they usually get 40 miler tuesday training which i never did then 60 miler wednesday but they will do it all in the one day instead of 2 days should be ok i hope but ill just pull them out of saturday i think if they look tired on friday because same race point week after

Shortcut Lofts Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Personally i would split as i would not expect Ybs to do both, maybe old birds would be ok. What happens if you get a bad one on Wed - Saturdays race is over before it starts. As another post says - Im sure you will make the right decision. Good Luck. SL
pjc Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Follow the forecasts carefully, split the team 60/40, send the biggest team on wed and keep the rest for sat, if they have an easy race, with good returns you can if you wish send a few of them sat again with the 40% you held back. Leave your options open but if in doughbt leave them out!
