PIGEON_MAN Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 No worse than a bird damaging its leg and having to have its metal ring removed. Why would a chip break down? They use them for animal passports. Couldnt tell you that but I,ve had rings that wont register and had to have them replaced when allocating members birds also had them register at marking one week then the following week no good so they do break down.

Yes I've seen it. I've also heard of birds coming home and not being being clocked. Theres still too many flaws in the systems.

Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 Suppose thats one of the disadvantages of the ETS people taking the rings off, guess I,ve been lucky as in 3 years I havn,t have one taken. Can I ask why you are against ETS. Sorry Stb it was Greig the Doo Drysdale who I was asking. I am against as I have been from the start I think there will be to many cheating with it by placing it outside the loft It also give manual clock users a minimum of a 5 second dis advantage it has alot of problems which could be to the users advantage sometimes there are lots of reasons I dont like it. only way i would have 1 is for training young birds but would not use it for racing I like to be there when my birds come home and i can give them a quick check over when taking the race rubber off. But each to there own All the best
