antwerptom03 Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 Any small fanciers out there who make do with only a team of race birds. In other words.... any youngsters for future use are bred solely from the race team. Thanks
peter edwards Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 hi anterptom03, i d,not, keep any stock, loft is only 10x5, this suits me have not go deep pockets, only keep6pairs 2 race, go 23 ybs,12 ybs were bred 4 me, i am not a member of any fed, only intested in classic racing trying 2 build a long distance team (bicc) minded.
antwerptom03 Posted May 21, 2006 Author Report Posted May 21, 2006 Thanks Peter, I'm in the same boat. Two self built 8x10 lofts.. 1 for young birds and one for old birds. After spending much of the evening readiing thru a bunch of articles on the Elimar site it seems there's quite a few very successful fanciers who make do breeding solely from their best racers. I'm mainly interested in my combines 350-500 mile races. Tom
Guest Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 We do not breed from our race birds, just the stock pigeons see ours on www.redroselofts.com
jacksafc Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Tom, if you have the patience to keep trying new lines i think its the best way, stock pigeons are expensive to buy and its another loft to house and feed all year. Having said that i wouldnt breed off the race team unless they're winning or very well bred. Just means buying a draft of YB's in each year till something shows
