Guest Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Well done Westy, did you buy your Dad a pint from your prizemoney ????
westy Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 was going to send all my young ens today, but saved a few, its a bit like the lottery the more pigeons you send, the more chance you have of winning, dont you think.
Wiley Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 thats an interesting point you put forward westy, saying that racing is like a lottery the more you send the more chance you have of winning. It is and it isnt really,in probability the mob flyers have more chance of winning but it only takes 1 to beat em.I remember 2 seasons ago when i sent 1 pigeon to a ripon amalgamation, while other members in my club were averaging twenty or so birds,i only sent the one cos we had a wipe out of at berwick were we put all our eggs in one basket.Althought i didnt win the club i ended up being second beaten by .6 of a decimal but everyone said that was the preformance of the year.I dont think its numbers i think its if the pigeons are right on the day they will beat how many pigeons your other memebers send, but its jus getting them right

snowy Posted September 2, 2006 Author Report Posted September 2, 2006 was going to send all my young ens today, but saved a few, its a bit like the lottery the more pigeons you send, the more chance you have of winning, dont you think. i put that message on under westys name, as this is what he said to me the other day, since having words & letting him understand that he shouldnt say this, he has changed his point of view, instead of listening to a local 17 yr old who wants him to lose all his good birds by throwing them all into a race & hoping for the best! so i apologise to westy for using his name while he was logged on, but just wanted him to understand that he shouldnt always listen to club members, & to this resulting in losing 9 birds today. me & my son westy are now going for a shandy down the pigeon club. ;D
jimmy white Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 THESE BIRDS CAN STILL TURN UP WESTY, THATS THE PROPER DOWNS OF PIGEON RACING IVE SEEN YBS TURN UP THE NEXT DAY AND FINISH UP CHAMPIONS, SO STICK IN THERE WESTY ,,ALL IS NOT LOST YET,, GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOU GET MORE BIRDS BACK
snowy Posted September 4, 2006 Author Report Posted September 4, 2006 cheers jim & all of you for the advice, much appreciated. only 4 missing from last race (the frome come back race 100 miles) we sent some first timers, but ours was the only club to liberate as the weather was terrible & most members lost more than us, rain & the wind. all club members were disapointed. thanks again
BRL Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I just had my very first race this past Saturday. I clocked 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th on the A-race, 100 miles 1349 YPM 388 birds, I sent 17. My two boys clock 1st and 2nd on the JR Race my daughter 4th... The one that clocked 1st had the fastest time out of all the B-racers... 345 Birds sent 1360 YPM 3rd on the Sprint Thanks Hyacinth for the training advice…. :)
