Guest CS Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 I use roundabout, never try widowood yet.... If i'm going to use widowood system, i would go for hens.....they fly better than cocks... in my opinion...
Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Natural for Long Distance but early season may fly Roundabout to save the egg cycle. Then Double Widowhood for the shorter races, more emphasis being on the hens I seem to do better with them over the water. The widowhood cocks I keep mainly inland.
Guest Paulo Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 will be seperating the sexes with the young birds, natural with old birds
Mike Lycett Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Well Craig - How on earth do you know if you've never flown cocks on widowhood???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
schyphos Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Y.b cocks on widowhood.(old hens used). Y.b hens seperated, run with some old cocks on Friday.Paired last 5 races. Some old birds on roundabout with jealousy used. 1 team of old bird widowhood cocks. I think that covers it.
Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 ;D bet that keeps you busy Scyphos , what are youre results like ?
sapper756 Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Roundabout for club racing, and I keep a team of naturals for over tha Chanel.
jimmy white Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 after trying most systems , found racing widowhood cocks the best and easiest, for all distances ,[ but set up differantly off course] but a hard 5 to 600 mile race a good hen will take a bit of beating ,,,off course widowhood , roundabout hens are just as good, but a lot of extra work
blackjack Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Open hole natural pairing late march/early april the birds have to fit in with my way of life i own the pigeons . They do not own me i like my birds around me they get about 4 races a season and are jumped .I find with open hole they cope much better with the falcons and pairing when i do i miss the hawks feeding thier young and can get my birds ready for the real races of late june though till august.
pj1001 Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 Old Birds early season roundabout, paired and raced natural for channel. Young birds natural. allowed to pair and sit if they wish. PJ
