hi cn anyone tell anything about the strain bon amee ( maybe spelt wrong )     an old extreme distance breed

 

i think someone said there was something in the history of the strain book which i cannot get hold of.....so if someone knows anything or has a copy of the book can you pm me or post on here & tell me something about the strain    ( old yellow ar eyou there maybe one for you )

mons bastens was nearest strange name i could come up with , i've even forgot them with big wattles name lol think they begain with a B.......................

have heard of them but i doubt you will ever get any of them

your going back over a century ago and i think the spelling was   bonaime

wasnt bon ami a famous winner of the dicken medal for being shot up and getting back and saving a load of troops might be an individual bird rather than a strain, i may be wrong but the name sounds familiar

bet you a fiver i have 4 coming soon

 

got from a fellow today from creswell notts

 

he got them from an 87 year old fellow who kept them pure  and he as done the same but never tested them,

 

so in steps jon boy to doo the job....

 

handle them today the parents nice distance gear with violet eyes....

 

like a kid in a sweet shop i was today....

Stock then can hammer ybs ;) and anything can happen outside a loft hawk wire then have nowt to try ;)

i thort they were sprinters...

think bon amee was a tommy buck janssen via jules janssen a lot of reds and yellows in the family .

i probly wrong but thats what come to mind.

more info   mons bonami  lived in antwerp  birds were mainly dark cheqs and reds

t.w. thorougoods was the first to import them also mentioned are th burtons  alfonso

c.e. l.  bryant, joe cock worcester,  ap taft , and chas clark all this in 1901

this info is from  the creation of a strain by w.d. lea raynor

This was a strain of birds raced in the latter part of the 19th and early 20th centuries,just looked at a 1907 Homing pigeon annual there is an advert of T.H. Burton he is selling birds bred down off Orchardsons old Bonami blood including an own son and daughter of the the famous 28 and 27 Bonami pair.Hope this helps that is how it spelled in this book.

well done Brian if these are of this Blood then they have been sleepers for years without crosses and racing i wonder if any racing / homing ability is still there
