Guest Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 We use the small pig tail type economy florescent light bulbs
birdman55678 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I also am using the florescent bulbs, not sure if its right though buts its what I am using. 18 hrs of light per day.. Ed
Guest Greenways Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 If you go to Homebase you can get daylight bulbs(blue colour) that give the correct light they are about £2.50
GREENGRASS Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 check out the BHW advert of boddy&ridewood new flouresent tubes which emit uv rays good for birds but do we now need our sunglasses in the loft........................ ;D ;D ;D. and far more expensive than homebase.
Speedy Ste Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I've just got a normal 35W, strip light in my loft Birds same happy when it's on. Steve.

My loft's out in the sticks with no electric but my partner has his in his garden and has often said he'd like to try it but never been able to find solid information on the system Thanks Albear
Guest Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 alan try and get a copy of RPC System video's 'the youngbird light system' from nigel gringley. nigel@gringley.demon.co.uk www.pigeonbooks.go.cc Failing that when I have found the time to watch my copy you can borrow mine.
GROVEHOMER Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 GREENWAYS, Are your daylight bulbs on a dimmer and what wattage are you using?
Bobthegas Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 You cannot put full spectrum daylight bulbs on a dimmer, so i was told, as i was about to purchase these with a built in ioniser. Bob
Guest Greenways Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 No I don't have a dimmer at the moment as its broke. All I do is have the light on from 3.00am till 8.00am from weaning to end of May.If you do the system the birds must have either a proper sunrise or sunset as I have heard of birds being out all night. It depends when you let your youngbirds out. If you want any more info.PM me Cheers
