I would add that if you are racing white birds and tossing them with your other colour birds they will stand out from the flock in the eyes of preditors, on the other hand if you are flying all whites with a couple of othe colours mixed in the other colours will stand out and make them targets.

I used to have a White Rapido Busheart cock bird that should have won as a baby (wouldnt land), so I sent him as a yearling to the channel races, he scored well from 350miles and 400miles and I was aiming to send him 550miles. But while preparing him I took him for an easy 20miles training toss, and he didnt return. His dad was a bonny pied that had won from 550miles and he was lost from the same training spot. So I went back the next day for a training toss and watched them for a while, and as soon as they where liberated a hawk appeared from no-where and started circling above the birds. From this I concluded that the hawk seemed to pick out the pigeons with the most white on as they are easier to pick out in a batch, so I wont have any Gay Pieds or white'uns in the loft now. Its a shame as they are nice to look at.

Hi Coxy,

I race white birds and after about 3 years they started winning races. But I started with everyones handme downs, the occasional white bird they had hatch and didn't want, that sort of thing. Then kept breeding the best racers to each other. I wouldn't recomend this method though, get some good stuff to start with. I have since purchased some strains such as Bandits, Sticklebach, and most recently Ludos Classens. I am getting some really nice YB's this year, we'll see how they race. I do lose some to hawks, but then we lose some of every color to hawks.
