cokacola Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I'm a 16 year old that would like to start racing a few birds, just for the fun really. I live in Bassaleg, Newport, Gwent and have written to the secretary of the newport gwent club but have yet to hear anything. Guest Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks! hi ive got some latebreds here waiting for u to start up with,to breed a few off...thats if u want them...all free of course, ill even bring them to u ,just give me a shout ...paul ive sent u a pm.
cokacola Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Posted December 2, 2007 Hi Paul, That's incredibly kind of you, I'l go and send you a PM now RE them. Thanks too for all of the people that have PMed me and wished me luck and welcomed me to pigeon racing, Its amazingly encouraging. I'm going to race my pigeons to "rabbit hutch lofts", to start with anyway, because of restrictions from parents, who don't seem to like pigeons and also space issues. At the moment I'v just got the one double one, it's great, it's got slide-out steel trays for cleaning and its nice wood. I'v ordered 10 white plastic saddle perches to go in it, I think I'm gonna put 3 on the back of each hutch and 1 on each side of each hutch, depending on how much space they're gonna take up, so sorry if the hutches seem bare at the moment. And so far I have 2 pigeons. A pair of 07 Busschaerts from a fancier packing up due to ill health. They cost me £10 each plus amtrak. I'v had them maybe 5 weeks, they are homing to me like the wind and fly into the garage through the window when it's time to come back in, great birds. The hen has also returned from a 5 mile toss. (The cock has moulted quite a bit of his tail, so didn't try him). The aviary next to the hutches has some bantams in, it's just the two pigeons I currently have. I know some people don't like the single pair lofts and I'm sorry about that, but it's really the only way i'm gonna keep pigeons at the moment and aslong as they get excercised regularly i'm sure it'll work for me.. I'm also going to some random pub on saturday at midday to meet up with the club! Thanks!

homer Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 nice 1. u stick with it. they may be hutches but thats as clean and smart a set up as iv seen of late.
homer Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Thanks homer thats cool. a pigeon doesnt care if he lives in a hutch or a petron loft with a tiled roof, power, lights and hot and cold running water ! IMO a pigeon (in its own way) cares if its clean and sheltered from the elements..... if there is food and fresh water etc......and by the looks of it u are doing the business !
THE FIFER Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 well done nice looking set-up u have, all the best. look forward to ur posts on the forum. keep us informed,
