i dont know if this will work with pigeons but it works in Avery's

get some cork tiles from DIY shop and sock them in clear spirit vinegar

put them in you nest boxs when they have dried out and no mite will come close to them

don't know which mite's they are , but as an added precaution , i would remove the straw & burn it, dip the bird's  in a solution of ivomec based sheep drench , 3cc - 2 gallon's of luke warm water, use the water that you diped the bird's in , to spray out the loft

or give them garlic in their drinking water. I put 3 segments into a pint of boiling water and give them approx 100mls into their 2pt drinker when changing water daily.

could guess they could be young red mite as they are clear to begin with,, its when they feed on the birds blood they turn red [often yb,s in the nest are the worst effected ] but could be any type of mite , obviosly from the straw  which i would get rid of ,,,,but i was told by a top flying fancier to put a third of a bottle of duromitex in a bucket of warm water and dip the birds in it [not their heads] i have did this with my yb,s and never saw a mite or a lice on them all season [also sprayed loft]  it didnt do them any harm in the long run :)

tcp sounds great

thats the way i went

i did put some durmitex in a spray bottle

worked ok but not on old ones

so i used the potasium pataginate

still can't spell it lol

happy new year all

:)

mucker take this or leave it ,the potassium permagnanate , is a mild antiseptic, this will not solve your prob's ,duramaitex has a limited effect as most mite's are restistant to the make up of this product, which is maliothone, spelt wrong . pm me

Some here may have used in the past, "kerosene' like I still use today in the lofts at times, pretty potent stuff  ;D ;D ;D. Just don't smoke, or it could be interesting  :D :D :D what your future may be  ;) ;) ;).

Enjoy.
