pigeon peter Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Can anyone tell me if you can still pigeon eggs like you can chickens and how is the best way to do it ?
sapper756 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Excuse my ignorance, but what does "stilling eggs" mean? :-/
pigeon peter Posted January 22, 2008 Author Report Posted January 22, 2008 stilling eggs is when you can leave them sat for a while the put them under a pigeon and hatch them out at a later date
sapper756 Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Cheers, I,m sure I,ve read in the past, that providing you rotate the eggs at least once a day, and keep them cool, you can keep them for 2weeks before slipping under another hen, someone may be able to be more precise though

jimmy white Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 f you have a good search through the site youll find a posting on this,,,,i myself have had eggs put aside in the house in a cool place [not fridge] turned them regular , dampened them each day and had them hatch, after about 10 days , but im sure there will be more experts than me able to give you more info , on that one [done this this year for 5 days ,hatched ,,,,main thing i think is ,,,as long as they have not began to incubate [fresh laid eggs]
Merlin Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Its a long time since I have heard that expression Stilling Eggs, and have done it many times with many different birds, remove egg straight away as soon as laid ,keep at loft temp, and turn on a daily basis,I have had eggs hatch after 17 days myself, how long after this they would stay good for I couldnt really say.
Sajfos Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 They will keep for Months if removed as soon as each egg is laid .
THE FIFER Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 They will keep for Months if removed as soon as each egg is laid . yes so long as they are kept cool.
