Guest bristolkev Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 what is the lastest you can pair birds up to breed a youngbird team for the coming youngbird season?
Tony C Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 At a quick calculation pair up 18-19 weeks before the first race you want to enter them in.
jimbobboy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 jimbobboy says; We just paired our birds up. we usually pair up around Washington's birthday. Birds will be hatching as the temps. start going up. It also depends upon when your old birds racing starts.
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 late feb, early march, is best, if you want a chance to win! the earlyer the better!
Lennut Tar Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 late feb, early march, is best, if you want a chance to win! the earlyer the better! That's the way I would attack ;D ;D ;D if I was interested in young birds etc (which I'm not & never have been). In my area as such !!!!!! the rings each year are issued from the 1st of July & young birds start in March the following year, & the young bird fanatics are chanting at the bit, so to speak. To get their rings as early as possible. I mate in October & breed through to the end of January, with the old bird season starting in June/July. But each to their own & many roads lead to Rome. Enjoy.

Lennut Tar Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 6 to 9 months sounds like young birds to me!!!!! ;D ;D ;D Dublinflyer !!!!!!! You must remember now !!!!!!!! We think ???????? somewhat differently to you here & I didn't lay down the rules as such. That was done 100 odd years ago etc, (So don't blame me) but I know why you would scratch your head & be somewhat confused & bewilded so to speak :P . So I will tell you a little secret :) just between the 2 of us here now, & no one else ;D ;D ;D because they might think we are a bit strange/weird you could say & I would never want that to happen (I want people here, to think I'm smart & intelligent) : : :. We classify any pigeon from 1 day old on, if it goes in a race, as a old bird in the old bird season. "Strange isn't" but thats our way of doing things, & 85%+ of the pigeons racing, are as you would put it, young birds etc & are actually racing as old birds here. "Confused are you" ????? ;D ;D ;D well don't worry about it to much, it's not worth it & it's just life in the sport of pigeon racing "Aussie style". PS. It may have something to do with "Uncle Ned" (Ned Kelly) & his outlook on life etc :P, at least thats my explanation for the moment here. But why still to some, it may appear a bit strange. Enjoy.
DUBLINFLYER Posted February 22, 2008 Report Posted February 22, 2008 hands up here u got me : ;D ;D ;D ;D
