Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 is it ok if brothers and sisters mate? :-/
Guest j.bamling Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 of course ? i dont like it much though ;D
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 i got two red cheques as Yb and they were never together, now they are together, and they want to mate! the guy who gave them to me is the best around here said! NO!
Guest j.bamling Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 my mate bred a 20th U.N.C. Folkstone Nat 27000 birds off 2 nestmates paired together ( & they were bred by mistake )
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 i took the hen out hour ago, into a section with two cocks and 2 other hens, so i it might be too late to mate them, when i go to my loft at 3,30 she might be mated to another cock! and i was hoping to get the cock mated to another hen too, i just wanted to make shure just in case they come together again! :-/
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 are they worth a hoot if they are good let them mate, save the babys back if these birds throw any decent racers breed these inbred babys back to the performing half brother/sister pigeon and then cross out these babys and breed them back to original parent for stock !
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 ok if i go to the loft at 3.30 and the hen is not mated i will let them together, is there any reason if a hen and a cock have been together in a loft alone for 3 days that they dont mate?
Guest Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 I put mother to son and father to daughter occasionally if I think the combination will work, somehow just can't bring myself to breed off nest mates even when they pair together themselves as nest mates often do,just can't do it,doesn't seem right to me
phillips Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 i had brother sister pring bred me a second club 7 fed
chickadee Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Doesn't it weaken the strain if nest mates breed together?
Guest MBpigeonguy Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 well they wont mate together, wheni went to the loft the hen had another red cock, so its ok, i dont know any race horses bred with its full brother and sister! so why should pigeons,
Lennut Tar Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 well they wont mate together, wheni went to the loft the hen had another red cock, so its ok, i dont know any race horses bred with its full brother and sister! so why should pigeons, Maybe not race horses etc as such ?????. But in the outback & the wild ;D ;D ;D there would be plenty of enjoyment at times ;) between brother & sister :D & there pretty tough. They have to be, to survive. So go ahead & mate brother & sister together, if you don't have any another option etc & don't worry to much about it. Just let the basket !!!!!! tell you, if they are any good or not. Enjoy.
The White Rapido Man Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 is it ok if brothers and sisters mate? :-/ breeding nest mates for me it far too close for me......I had a few accidential matings...and the birds werenot quite rigth somehow. I am told though that daughter back to father is one of the best methods of line breeding.
Wiley Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 some great champions have came out of nest pair matings, the great lefebre dhanen cock Tommy Tucker being one of them
timbarra Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 the best methods of linebreeding and is evident in alot of top continental lofts is, niece to uncle,(niece from a brother to the uncle) nephew to aunt and cousins from 2 brothers, also full brother and sister, but this is only if the 2 are exceptional in every department and quality ( not just 2 pigeons that are related) study top european players pedigrees and familys of passed and present, you will see patterns emerging. spencer
pjc Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 they will be ok together unless they are inbred themselves. If the breeder is saying No, then i would guess they maybe inbred already and you could have problems with the young. Of course if you are just pairing to race then they are clearly happy together so just swop the eggs and use them as feeders for racing. Phil
carlsberg Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 i had a son to mother pairing once they bred absolute cr#p
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 breeding nest mates for me it far too close for me......I had a few accidential matings...and the birds werenot quite rigth somehow. I am told though that daughter back to father is one of the best methods of line breeding. Was told the same thing years back, never tried it though
Lennut Tar Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 i had a son to mother pairing once they bred absolute cr#p ;D ;D ;D Maybe so !!!!!!! But many of us ?????, have tried many different combinations in our day etc, in our endeavour to find that champion so to speak. So I think a fair comment is ;) Most of them, are cr*p at the end of the day :D . No matter what you breed from. Enjoy
carlsberg Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 cheers for that lennut but i must admit that the birds from this were really sh#t
DUBLINFLYER Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 breeding nest mates for me it far too close for me......I had a few accidential matings...and the birds werenot quite rigth somehow. I am told though that daughter back to father is one of the best methods of line breeding. yes i also heard this but i believe they must be very very similar to each other almost identical so if the sire had 2 daughters(say a blue an a check) an the sire been a blue then i believe he is best suited to the blue hen but as i said she must identical an he must be a top performer also!!!!!! this is just something ive heard an also believe myself
jimmy white Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 paired two nestmates up by mistake [both had scored ] one was borrowed for breeding ,, untill we seen pedigree , they were nest mates , yb,s off these did well
