I want to bring in some out and out sprinters for 2008, something for up to 200-250 miles.

Obviously i cant list all the families but would justlike the forms honest opinion on which family to go for.

The van reets i know about and soojtens but want to look at the lesser known families as well i am not restricting myself to just the families on the poll so any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

personally i've voted Willy Thas, but in truth its the Tasker birds ive found for myself that excel from 0-250 miles in any wind direction!

wiley the tasker thas will win from 66 to 560 mile on the day my mate has them that tops the fed and sect most years out of bourges 557 miles but the same birds win and top the fed as y/bs and sprinting inland

Taskers have been out of this world in Northern Ireland helping us win Sections, Opens, National positions glore from 70miles out to 300+miles clocking teams of them togather, we always top up every year with fresh blood from Franks best, I dont believe you could go to a more honest fancier.

A FEW FANCIERS AROUND THE MIDLANDS I KNOW ARE WINNING WELL ON THE SPRINT WITH THE WIM MOENS. THE FIRST SALE THAT I THINK HE HAD IN THE UK  WAS IN 2004. A LOCAL FANCIER I KNOW PURCHASED 4 FROM THE ORIGINAL SALE THEY WERE ALL YOUNGSTERS HE PUT THEM TO STOCK AND HE AS RACED WELL WITH CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN FROM THEM. HE BRED A FEW FRIENDS SOME AND THESE HAVE ALSO DONE WELL IN LOCAL FEDERATIONS WITH BIRDAGES OVER 5000 BIRDS. I HAVE ALSO HEARD THAT THEY MAKE EXCELLENT CROSSES INTO THE FRANS VAN WILDERSMEERCH BIRDS.

There is some goos awnsers coming up at present which i thank everyone for, I will be doing some research into the lesser known families such as the wim moens

Sprinting is more about the System than the birds in my opinion mate but ive only been racing a few years and never had a full old bird season yet

i would agree with that ,dont look at names look at the man and his methods ,yes you need good birds but without the right condition and motivation they will not win.

my advice would be buy from someone who has won year in year out.seek advise on the best methods of feeding them etc .seek out after sales help if your birds are not performing any genuine pigeon man  good enough to sell you birds will surely give you advise.

do not always look at the apple tree look around it . ;D ;D

Hi Valance, I think you should possibly go for an up and coming family rather than a family which has had its best days , but there is good and bad in all familys, personally I think the van reets are tried and tested but the best are rarely available.

the van der rhees i cant comment on the janssens, arendonk or rolands ??

well i got the Best sprint family or the family i think are the best in my loft, and thats only my opinion. but hey look at my website and see them. hope to meet you soon mate , hope your well.

I know i have the pigeons for after around 250 miles and would not change them until i have took them as far as i feel i can.

Out and out sprint is something new to me i have never been obsessed with a 70 mile race but the times are changing and my fed race programme looks like it is going to be suiting one or two sprint specialists so i must move with the times and look at introducing pigeons with that sole purpose.

I do prefer longer races but as i said change with the times is required

;Dvery interesting ,our club champion has van der rhees ,i have thought about buying some in ,youngbird racing this year i won as many races as him  ;D ;D and with one exception (thanks Wiley) were buscheart X janssen so i think perhaps its as much system as pigeon  ;D ;D                  andy

good pigeons will  win inspite of the fancier, the is loads of good systems and flyers which now what they are doing, good pigeons win races no matter what distance, good pigeons will also win inspite of the fancier, good pigeons is what you need and the is more bad ones than good ones.
