leighton1984 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Not long till racing starts are you ready .
Guest cloudview Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 im certainly not ready first race on 12th april , the ybs will have been off them for 1 week , they,ll need afew days to adjust after seperating and unless we get some better weather , training is out of the question , esp the yearlings, more of these are lost or ruined inthe first few races , my advice if in doubt leave them at home , missing aracepoint wont harm them
schouwman71 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 ill be ready, hopefully, well the cocks will be,not raced old birds for a few years due to a few things but feel i am ready this year. Les
carlsberg Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 i'll be ready but not sure if the birds will
Tony C Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Cant remember a season where I felt I was ready, cant see why this one should be any different ;D I think I'll be as ready as the next person but the weather will dictate whether I train let alone send to the first race(April 12th) or not. We're supposed to be in for a spell of below average temperatures and cold northerly winds for the next couple of weeks.
S.D.B LOFTS Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Parted racers last friday should be ready by the 12th of april ?
Guest Paulo Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Should just about do it have got birds flying a hour in the morning and a hour at night despite some of them being on big young un's. Last young uns will be weaned off inland race team tomorrow. Had 4 training chucks so far and birds have come well so just need to canker them and worm them get the ones I want for the arly races settled down on pot eggs and start playing about and I'll be ready. Been a struggle through old birds see much more of a chew on than young uns still looking forward to my first season got a strong team of yearlings that were raced down the line with one prize winner on the team depsite them not being on the dark so hopefully they'll perform well. Hope we get some channel in as well
Beanz Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 If you want to send you will have to be ready you have no choice in the matter. Paul

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 If you want to send you will have to be ready you have no choice in the matter. Paul exactly, but there will always be some birds ready for the first earlier races
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 exactly, but there will always be some birds ready for the first earlier races having said that we have another full month till racing starts for us so should hopefully be a bit warmer then
blackjack Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Fully agree Rose ive seen people training in early march and then wonder why they cannot get thier birds at the distance !.
Guest spin cycle Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 Well hope the weather improves for those who are thinking of making those early races it certainly doesnt look good for this weekend otherwise it looks like there are going to be quite a few birds in baskets that arent fit to be there and people wonder why quite often the first races turn out to be disasters its not the pigeons that are at fault it is the people who send them who have got to be there whatever the price :-/ OUCH...point taken. at least a few of mine will be ready but no unfair/unnecessary risks

Guest Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 my first race will be appleby on the 3rd of may. this will be the third race in my fed program, and looking forward to getting started
Guest IB Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Our 1st race is a week earlier than I expected, Coldstream on 19th April. I'm off work that week and hope to get a couple of trainers in, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope with weather - its freezing cold here today, and it has been trying to snow - there is snow on Ochill Hills. It rarely gets warm before May. Am I ready? No. ;D
madmaxlofts Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 will be ready in 3 weeks for the new season hopefully
