MsPigeon Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Hi Javier, There are lots of flyers in Florida, not sure how close they are to you though. If you join the AU (American Racing Pigeon Union) they have a "Help a Beginner" program. Check out their site http://www.pigeon.org/index.html you can find a club near you or just call the AU, they are very helpful and friendly. Yours in the sport. Carol

Guest slugmonkey Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 That club you are speaking of is in SPRING HILL florida not spring field and BIG is an understatement they race around 4000 birds a race in the tampa combine, people that have been there say its the toughest place on earth to race just because of the sheer numbers of birds if you are racing 200 miles and your bird makes 1 lap around the house you drop about 100 positions, there are usally 3 - 5 races a week there are clubs that fly short, headwind, and tailwind, there are several guys that their only job is training pigeons, the Unit 10 club ( U-10 ) sells about 30,000 bands there are about 200 members in an area that is about 2 square miles !!!! it is awesome if you like pigeons most houses in that area have lofts if yours dosent you are considered an oddball !!!
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Last week on a race they had 140 pigeons in 4 minutes ( top 10% ) we were in the 60's on that race ( top 5% )
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 I lied we were 28th ( top 1% ) this bird also won a club and was 8th combine and is a grandson of National Ace Meteor
jimbobboy Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Jimbobboy says: That area of U-10 is called Little Belgium!!! They have a very, very, social active club, men and women!!! Always something going on!!! other than racing birds.
