sapper756 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Now that the racing is under way, how much if any training do you give your race team?
Guest Vic Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 For what distance? SLOWLY , SLOWLY KILLETH THE MONKEY!
Guest IB Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Ordinarily I would have had them down the road a couple of times per week. But the racing and training weather conditions haven't been too great so far this year: we now have 3 races under our belts here, the first 2 at least have been far from ideal wind and weather conditions with some birds 3 to 4 hours on the wing - and being honest, mine aren't ready for that this early in the season, and it shows. So just now mine are at home between races. I've also had a look at my last 2 years - disasters - I have dropped most of the birds before the real racing even starts - so I reckon for my Natural pigeons anyways, having them down the road a couple of times per week between races doesn't seem to work.

Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 todays race was 147 miles to me and my 1st 2 birds were 2yr old nest mates which was there 1st race this season all they had before this race was loft flying and 2 tosses 1 tuesday and the other wednesday from about 30 miles so I am going to say loft flying and at least 1 toss just now but as the races get longer I would think loft flying is plenty
jimmy white Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 races are won at home ;D,,,,,think about it ;D
Lennut Tar Posted May 11, 2008 Report Posted May 11, 2008 races are won at home ;D,,,,,think about it ;D :) A lot of truth in that bit of wisdom ;D ;D ;D. Talking to my mate last night (Yes !!!!!! I do have 1 or 2) :P & he rattled off to me all the blokes :'( :'( :'( that are emptying their lofts out here "PMSL" with all their early tosses etc. Some are 40 to 50 miles down the track enjoying themselves, till they come home & count the empty perches ;D ;D ;D (Lovely) less for me to beat, when we get around to racing in 6-8 weeKs time etc. I will just sit back & wait a while yet :X :X :X & enjoy the tales of misery, that many blokes inflick on them selves here, year in year out. Being who I'm. Enjoy.
