Dont take anything away from any bird thats got a win under its belt even when the bird is usually at the back it just shows that the race was suited for that bird not that the bird was lucky as some on here would tell you. When i won Niort the first thing i heard was yeah backmarker won it love to know how people make these assumptions when they didnt even clock. The same bird also came 11th middlewich two bird open champion of cheshire(only bird round this way again) the same bird also won the club on two occasions when the so called fast birds got in.Sorry if it sounds like a rant but people are so quick to knock other birds when theres dont or cant put in the supreme effort it takes in bad condition's.

A win is a win in any circumstance and on the day that's what you put the bird in a race for.

Ronnie what you are talking about is something very diferent yours is a very good bird not a lucky bird a lucky one does not get lucky 2 or 3 times. and there are wins which are pure luck or fluke and what you do not want to do is build a team around a lucky or flukey winner or indeed buy someone elses lucky/flukey winner as it will put you back 3 or 4 years .

Who can really say what happens during these 'sticky' races? Do the 'maddies' up front really try to fly through a rain storm and get grounded, while the 'old heads' following on behind them fly round the storm and get home first? Don't know.  :-/

But one thing I do know is that I have noticed its much the same people who get their birds coming through, sticky race or not.

Cool. And i bet thoes 'lucky wins' boosted the value of the birds if you ever came to sell it!!

Sorry but I don't believe in lucky wins unless you have a favourable drop in a fast race.

Any bird that has stuck at it 10 hours plus, is not lucky even if there were two seperated on a decimal. Fast races favour luck far more than tough races every time.

I like em all but the best win I ever had was a 300 in OB where the race secretary called to ask how many I had in and I had 24 of 26 there were only 7 other birds in between 20 lofts I really mopped the sheet up that week

I also think its more about WHO you beat sometimes than what you did that week there are some proverbial favorite guys I LOVE !! to beat we had a real fast race ( 2300 ypm + ) and a guy in our club who always smokes a cigar and wears his loft coat with the name on the back ( we all have one )  when he thinks he has it won he will strut around being an expert well he was convinced he had won but I beat him by over 2 minutes and was only 3 ypm off a national speed record at 117 miles that is a LOT of distance although since then I have become the guy to beat on really fast days this week we had fast 200 mile races and I didn't win any of them ( clock failure   lol ) and the guys actually cheered the fact I didnt win one !!!!   ( which I am ok with it was good natured )

I dont beleive in 'lucky wins' either and as i have never raced a pigeon my opinion doesnt count for anything anyway. I was just saying that even though some people might have said the pigeon were lucky there was alot of positives to be had from the race.
