Peanuts on day of racing or basketing is too late, give day before basketing

I lock birds down race day and give a bath then I give a VERY light feeding of corn and sunflower hearts and peas, then leave them alone till around 2 o'clock ( the shorter the race the earlier I feed ) then I feed a mix of corn 40%, peas 30%, hemp 10%, sunflower hearts 10%, and safflower 10% I give them all they want and plenty of fresh clear water I also add Yeast, royal jelly, infant formula and barley grass to the feed

If i was sending a 350 mile saturday i would feed a high fat content thursday and friday morning. On thursday evening i would put a carbohydrate loader in the water and leave it in till they get home.

was watching a dvd about fancier who has been dutch ace fancier several times and he fed in morning then gave peanuts till they left them the reason being he said peanuts makes them drink and then want to rest so are nice and quite when marked and basketed instead of roaring about in race panniers

Ok. I will tell you what I did and how I did. I am a first year flyer so keep that in mind. I switch to a high carb/energy feed on wensdays. and feed all they want wensday and thurs (picking up after 20 minutes). I put honey and vitamin B complex in the water friday. I feed half rations friday morning then about 3-4 peanuts per bird. The race was good and it was 340 miles to my loft. They had a 5 MPH head wind. I got 2 birds out of 8 today and placed 6th and 8th club 11th and 15th combine. My first bird was going 1150ypm. Some of the club guys are 40 miles shorter than me and some combine guys are 80 miles shorter than me. There is only one further than me here (by 2 miles) and he did not clock a bird today.
