pault Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 has any of the members got a iron tonic recipe
billy wilson Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 you can buy the iron tonics at all corn suppliers i would think,we used to put iron nails in the drinker and keep them there ;D billy
Guest Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Best off the shelf iron supplement is visorbin [very expensive but the best],Red Cell is the other one [not quite as expensive and not quite as good],both are for race horses but I know alot of fanciers that have used them.Would think tesco's own brand iron tablets at a fraction of the price would do or for the natural alternative watercress or ordinary cress or any dark green veg like spinache.

At £29-99 a litre from hyperdrug you are not joking when you say it is expensive. but they sell the red cell at £26-25 a litre so not a great deal of difference
ch pied Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 pault , galfer syrup , can be obtained at most chemist shop's , £6 for 300ml , 5ml -5pts
Guest Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 At £29-99 a litre from hyperdrug you are not joking when you say it is expensive It is serious stuff though, generally prescription rather than over the counter, often used for serious aneamia, highly concentrated and goes along way
Mike Lycett Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Johnsons Tonic - stood the test of time for decades. Can't beat it as an iron supplement.
jimmy white Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 Johnsons Tonic - stood the test of time for decades. Can't beat it as an iron supplement. agree entirely,, put this on b4 [[ laughed at me ;D]] old fashioned :-/ :-/ :-/ at least the pigeons drink their full quota of water with this added ,,,more than what can be said about newer to high concentated stuff , which to my mind would do more harm than good

pjc Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Best iron tonic I have found is Metatone, 1 teaspoon in a drinker makes it very economical as well. Only use it once a week but best i've ever found!

Guest Paulo Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Agree if you are looking at something that is not produced for pigeons cant beat metatone Does metatone do the same as johnsons then? Being using metatone a lot this year and impressed with the price and results. Was going to use Johnsons Tonic but if it does the same thing whats the point
