bullcock Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 What do think about using body building products that promote muscle growth and fast recovery for racing pigeons during the season? Does anybody actually use these products? Are they legal? Do you think the birds would benifit from them? :-/ Answers on a postcard or replay on the site its much easier.
Guest stb- Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 MOST OF THE BODY BUILDING STUFF THAT YOU CAN BUY ON THE HIGH STREET IS JUST HIGH PROTEIN POWDER WITH VITS AND MINERALS, WOULDNT DO ANY HARM AND DONT CONTAIN ANY ILEGAL SUBSTANCES . PROBABLY A TAD EXSPENSIVE THOUGH DEPPENDING ON HOW MNY BIRDS YOU KEEP

fred smyth Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 well our fed took 3 £ a man this year to pay for drug testing , but i have no idea what they will look for and what is illegal, think they are going to test all big winners.
Guest bigda Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 why! are you wanting birds for eating or flying ;D ;D
Guest stb- Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 whey protein , the gym heads use this . most of the body building stuff is just whey powder anyway
bullcock Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 why! are you wanting birds for eating or flying ;D ;D for winning and they don't then I'll eat them. ;D ;D

Dont agree with this - Yes to drug testing providing the Unions are prepared to release in the fancy press a clear descriptive list of what the banned substances actually are. When i worked in the gym we sold products that were as close to a steroid as you can possibly sell - If the dose was altered surely it could have a postive performance affect on a pigeon - I dont think the RPRA would have a case to ban anyone if this went before the courts due to lack of transparency. Also nearly every product offered for sale is sold as 'the product you cant live without' etc so surely these are either genuine performance enhancing products and as such illegal or there just a load of crap with little genuine effect but a high price tag.

bullcock Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 are the ets & t3's not full proof ? :-/
fred smyth Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 i think they would be better using the money to see it the ets can be full proof and the t3s when big money is involved crimss can do any thing , but is it worth messing with it just to win a race,
retired Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Test all birds-100% of the birds in the race---NOT JUST THE WINNERS. If the winner fails the test --how many places do they test??? Sounds like it is O K to use illegal Drugs if you don't win. I would agree Don but there doesnt seem to be much clarity over here on what is actually banned hence my last post - i could give my birds red bull (they wont drink it mind ) win a big race and then not only be banned but also kicked out the race when in reality you wouldnt know you had given anything wrong.
tjloft Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Creatine is used by both body builders and sold for pigeons - always wondered if it was performance enhancing.
bullcock Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 the sports governing bodys must have a list of these banned substances and the products that they may be found in, although pubicising this might give some people ideas. but how can you aviod them if you don't know? did someone not get thrown out of the olympics for using a nasel decongestant years ago!
ch pied Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 waste of money i agree , any barrister would get a ban overturned on the ground's that the sample wasen't taken under lab condition's , be it dropping's or feather .

Creative wont work for pigeons as it has a far too high GI. Goes through them like sh** through a sieve and causes kidney damage at the same time. Stay away at all costs.

CREATINEP Creatine delivery system for pigeons The finest quality Creatine in pure form is administered by adding 5gms to 500gms of food (500gms is approximately 18ozs) Creatine must be given daily for the full benefits to be gained. dosent say it will damage the pigeons in anyway. Dont think they would sell so much of it if it did damage kidneys etc :)
BLACK W F Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 VYDEX ANIMAL HEALTH. they would not sell it if it did cause probs and i certainly would never say it was as it could be conscrewed as being liberness
