Hi Jimmy, was looking at oils recently. Flightpath recommends mix with 60 ml light oil,  then mix up birds' feed in it. Only thing I had to hand was sunflower cooking oil, did job but reckon 60ml was too much, and thought cooking oil might be just a tad heavy, so now looking for a handy alternative, off supermarket shelf if poss.

Came across hemp oil beginning of week, a 'huge' bottle, dark glass and pricey, around £7. Only one other 'pigeon seed' oil there [can't remember which] apart from corn oil which I take to be maize. Do you recommend hemp oil, and how often?

yes thats the stuff ,bruno,,,as i say ,i got it for myself but began giving it to the  birds, a while ago ,i thought they lacked shine and dry feathering , tried hormoform, but didnt think it as good as it used to be , and really, the birds werent that keen on it,,,so ive been mixing this cold pressed hemp seed oil [ a couple of shakes "when you take the top off its like a vinegar bottle top"into a bowl of their feed ,the night b4 ,, im sure the birds look far better for it , with a  great shine, and better feathering ,,, but will let you know how it goes later,

Jimmy, I tried my own way of hemp oil a few years back. with being an angler, I boiled the hemp seed, until the whiteness popped out. Then emptied the remaining liquid into the racers drinkers, it took a weekor so  to get rid of the oily stains above their wattles . ;D ;D But hemp used in the right way, can make the difference.Cheers, Vic.

this seems a good enough idea [cheaper than the bottle,of oil , anyway :)] but the point in your post  "hemp used in the right way can make a differance " after using this, oil  have found this to be true ,,,but im sure vic would agree,,,the impotrtant part is ,,using it the right way  :)

paulo what you give the birds i personally believe they will not get you the few extra yards, they will only help you condition the birds and bring them into form, the motivation is were you get the few extra yards from!

hemp seed must be used sparingly  this seed heats the blood and can bring on false condition,,,,, the cold pressed oil is easier absorbed in the body and does help during the moult, one teaspoon in  full in a tub of feeding is less hemp than in conditioner
