Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I was sitting eating a Banana the other day looking at my fruit bowl and thought I would give my birds half an orange each so I went out empied and cleaned the drinkers cut an orange in half squeezed the juice into the drinker then topped it up with fresh water and put the half orange which I squeezed in the drinker whent back about an hour later or so and the birds had drank 3pints has anyone else tried this or am I the 1st. Whats your thoughts on it

Whats your thoughts on it All your really doing now is given them some vitamin C etc & birds will drink anything just about !!!!!!! if thirsty enough. I much prefer lemons (Have a lemon tree) or you can always give them Vitamin C tablets or powder, just like humans take if you like. Enjoy.
Merlin Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Try them on organic vegtable juice twice per week,old and young birds,with grape fruit and honey after race,never tried plain orange juice,wont do any harm ,excepting its got additives. Just my opinin

Whats your thoughts on it if you think about it this, is maybe why we give our birds yogurt or brewers yeast and all the other stuff you can give pigeons [and help them?]one guy sitting down one day and thought "i wonder if yogurt/brewers yeast will help my birds [thus are born all great ideas! ]watch this space in a years time we will all be doing it ,if it works ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
timbarra Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 I know alot of top flyers give a tin of carnation milk in the drinker to purge them instead of salt... I would not do this though...... trust me top men might , i would advise against it, :X :X :X ;D
