I strongly object to the slanderous comments regarding Roland Janssens that were made on the recent Ronny De Dobblaere thread.

The comments made were obviously made in the heat of the moment but the damage is already done if they are to be believed!

I have known Roland Janssens for 20 years. Roland is an honest, working class, racing man who keeps his cards close to his chest as many fanciers do. Roland was virtually unknown in this country until Louella Lofts obtained his birds. He did not create the hype about his birds or look to sell them to England it was Louella and the English fanciers!

Roland makes some money in his retirement from selling pigeons - so what?! - how many others do the same - hundreds if not thousands and certainly many on a bigger scale than Roland Janssens! How many people can say a. they have a direct Roland Janssen? and b. one they bought direct from Roland and not via someone else?! Very few!!! Roland does not have massive stock and breeding lofts like many others - he only races an average of 24 widowhood cocks and is hardly a 'money man'.

Roland is true to his word and if he is due a visit from someone wanting to buy birds of course he won't sell them to anyone else in the meantime. It also needs to be considered that he may pick and choose who he sells to! Roland Janssens turned down a significantly higher offer for the Kleine Jos than Louella Lofts paid because he had already promised the bird to Mazarella - is this the action of someone purely out for the money?!

True Roland has a strong friendship with Jos Huygens and they regularly swap birds - in the same way that many Belgians do. Jos Huygens has a significant stock of Roland's pigeons and vice versa - just as Roland brings in the best lines from other fanciers to cross into his birds - Henk De Weerd, Leon Wandels, Kevin Roosens, Roger Lismond, Jos Van Der Veken to name a few. All Belgian fanciers do this! They do not keep a family 'pure', however, once these birds have been paired into their own they become their own! You will see these names in Roland's pedigrees - unlike

some others where there are just ring numbers and you have no idea where they have come from!

The Ronny De Dobblaer birds are a different strain developed by a different man. There are a couple of recent Roland Janssens in them but also other families. The family is certainly not based on what Roland has in his lofts today. Whether that makes them a better strain or not is yet to be seen! Best of luck to those who have them but the associaton with Roland Janssens stops there; success or not!

Now i did not follow the Ronny De Dobblaer thread through to the end but i get the drift from your post Alex.

As sad as it is people are always ready to attack those who do well, usually they don´t deserve it and i believe this is the case here. Jelousy can make people say and do stupid things.
