Hi all

I went in the loft this morning and found a young hen with a black scab on her side and another on her shoulder. The one on her shoulder is bleeding and i have used talc to dry this up. The scab on her side is about half a inch in size. I have had a bird with a similar problem about five year ago and was told to tye a piece of cotton around the base of the scab. This worked then but this time the scab looks to be weeping blood and is in a  difficult place to tye cotton on as it is close to the top of her leg. I have checked all other birds in the loft and cannot find any others . Any advice on what this is and how to treat and prevent it would be most welcome.   Thanx michael

Search back the site a bit, as this topic was discussed at length a couple of months ago ;)
