Guest tomo68 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Ive got one of my hens that is just starting to get the same prolem, couldnt understand why at first as was told it had the injection & was wormed & cankered what is really hurting the most its my wifes favorite pigeon, good job all the rest have been injected.
OLDYELLOW Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Some fanciers will say there injected and are clearly not , best to have it done regardless then you know your birds are protected , as fancy birds arent raced they are more prone as not a requirement to inject them.
Guest tomo68 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Shes been put on her own but ive got to do what i didnt want to do and end it for her im so gutted about doin it as shes such a lovely bird.

The injection is only an immunisation for paramyxo and not all birds respond to it, some even take a reaction to it, also the twisted neck can be other problems apart from paramyxo, ie salmonela or meningitis. Best to get the bird tested :-/

Best to find out what is wrong with her first it may help to know what you are dealing with, it will pay in the long run :-/
Guest tomo68 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Ive got a mate thats in a racers club shell i take her to him to see what he says.
DOVEScot Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Ive got a mate thats in a racers club shell i take her to him to see what he says. If it's neck is twisting he will only be guessing the same as the rest of us, tests results will confirm your problem and help you deal with it :-/
jakjak Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I would have no hesitation in killing this pigeon and any others that dont look right. Your wasting your time......once a pigeon has had a major illness it will never make the grade......keep your money in your pocket Antibiotics only 'prop' pigeons up Top winning pigeons are NEVER ill
Guest IB Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Ive got a mate thats in a racers club shell i take her to him to see what he says. Definite no no. Any serious illness, or suspected illness, no visitors, and no visits to other lofts. Take the bird to an avian vet.
