some of my birds  keep scratching there beaks  sneezing  yourning  and have loose droppings what can i give them to put them right

Posted

Feel don't know enough Karl. but as no other answers.  Scratching beaks and some of other things may be canker.  When sneezing is there any snot(know not nice) as may have bad case of respiratory.  The loose dropping have you changed corn as this sometimes happens  But there are people on here that know more about cures and symptoms.

Hope just something simple

i sent droppings off and had results back but i think i was ripped off again and the things i was told to give the birds made things worse

What they come back with Karl? did you take throat swab? as jimmy said many things so need to pin point exactly.

Not wanting to worry you too much Karl but just thought what are symptoms or air sac mites? sure heard of these just the scratch seems to ring bell

i was told to give them  protril and mycro plus

which i did and ended up having to mop out the loft the next morning as all the loft floor was plastered in wet droppings i phoned up to see what was wrong and was told not to worry and just double the dose  but did not i took the birds off it

If thats a high bacterial count I would put them on a course of Amoxacylin. I would feed once a day and remove the drinker 45 minutes after they've been fed.

Well i would of said scratching could be as others have stated either dust from bloom or respirity problems as a precaution i would brush all the dust / bloom from ceiling mesch if any , and wipe all walls down with Jeyes Fluid , then treat the respirity  then repeat the wiping of walls once treated for , it also sounds like either or both canker / throat flem may have flaired up as a result of the respirity , did you remove the grit when treating the respirity infection ? but if there is a respirity problem ventilation needs to be looked at to prevent further out breaks
