gangster Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 he may have damaged himself internally the best advice i can offer is take him 2 a vet sorry i cant be more helpful...
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 thanks give it a bash and see i just dont like seeing a sick bird and vet aint open till tuesday so cant see them
Guest numpty01 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 sounds more like he has a tumor gently squeeze the bulge if crud comes out you only have one choice im afraid
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 he cant even fly at the mo he just drops to ground but everything seems ok except breathing and maybe constipated
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 nothing in the crop completly empty he threw up foodd but there was no food in that shed after 2 yesterday
Guest numpty01 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 my reason being i had hen i thought had prolapse when i checked her and gently squeezed she passed loads s i had to do it for few days but she had growth so no choice but to cull it was blocking things up
gangster Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 im sorry but i dont advocate treating birds blindly, advice maybe totally genuine but alas nobody can see its condition and i still recommend the vet, as administering blindly could result in the bird dying....regards...mick
Guest numpty01 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 oh i agree but if it was in perfect condition before it hit fence the fence would inflict injurey but not to exstent that bird cant poo that comes with previous problem surely maybe thats why it hit fence unwell when let out just thought???and as its today unless its got diarrior how would you know it cant poo
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 cuz its been in basket last couple of hrs and nothing on bottom of basket ive just given some sugery water to see if that will help get rid of some sh** but ill just ave to wait and see now dunno wat else to do
Tony C Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 If it were a hen I would say it was egg bound, are you 100% certain its a cock (not being funny)
Guest IB Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I'm not sure the problem was there already and caused the collision with the fence? Birds surely don't usually go downhill that fast, usually working on them for days beforehand? I've never heard of a constipated bird, but changeover to a lighter diet might get things moving again, as would linseed, or lactic acid (from friendly bacteria) so some natural live yoghurt on the corn might help too. But it's all just 'neutral' first-aid until you can get it to a vet, do nothing to make matters worse for the vet, and as it does sound serious (illness or injury) do get the bird seperated from your others.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 bulge at rear end not passing s hit fence gasping breath rear end seems full air can you feel egg if yes leave it or use baby oil in vent if not then i beleave that bird was not well when let out lumps on rear end is eaither growth ? blockage? or egg ? or prolapse or did it fly *expletive removed* first into fence the gasping can be down to injurey ? egg bound?? or too fat ???
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 its a young bird 3 monthes old cant see it laying surely but as i said when i clean them out i just open the trap before i go in then they all took off except this one took a few seconds after and just hit fence hes in the basket at the minute ill just ave to wait and see but hes eating a small amount and theres fresh water in there for himi dont think there s nothing else i can do he seems ok to look at when in the basket but as soon as i lift him he pants and just feels full of air
Tony C Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Had a pigeon once that hit something, blew up like a puffer fish. I couldn't work out what happened till a couple of days later, he's breast muscles went black and blue through bruising. He ruptured he's air sacks and air made its way down both flanks as well as he's crop.
Guest pigeon82 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 thanks for everyone that repliedthat afternoon i gave syringed suger and water into him the next morning i went out i found the problem it was a baby pigeon that had threw its ring and it bounced under the door into the young bird side and this pigeon ate it the ring was lying in the middle of its dropping but the bird is ok now thank god

chichichi Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I would seperate it from the others for a few days,, give it a cod liver oil capsule.. it might flush any thing out.. If it is still ill it will pass on soon,, If it is ill it can pass things on to the others,, so seperate,, best of luck ant
OLDYELLOW Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 it ate a ring and probaly had problems passing it im sure after a fwew days rest should be fine if everything internaly is sound and the bruising from the hitting the fence is ok , give bird a bath
