Guest pigeon82 Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 has anyone any ideas or sugestions
OLDYELLOW Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 it sounds like tricomiads ( canker ) ill try find it on chevita symptoms for you , i would suggest you go to a vet first http://www.chevita.com/en/pigeons/treatment-plan/digestivetract-trichomoniasis.php
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 the bird was put down straight away because he thought it might be contagious along with a 2nd bird that we noticed done the same
Guest puresoontjen Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 that dont sound good at all ??) ??)
swilcox Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 As said its either canker or severe upper respatory infection which has inflamed the ducks around the nose and eyes to to the point they bleed, i would treat with tylan or Doxycycline for 6 days and day 1 give a 1/4 metronizadale tablet and day 3 and day 5. Be sure to put the doxycycline in bottled water not tap water and remove the grit. However Circo Virus can also show the same symtoms, have any died??? Sometimes with Circo the breathing is badly affected and the heads shake, normal affected birds die within 48 hours, it will normally affect 10-15% and once birds show the signs its best to remove tham. Hope this helps. Stuart
swilcox Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 P.S. if the birds are blinking really badly and crocking then its the virus, remove each bird as it shows the signs and it should calm down in 3 or 3 days. Im afraid there isnt much cure for Viruses but i would give them sedichol on the food to help the internal organs.
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 thanks stuart anwser to your question birds have been taken away and disposed of but we done it so no infections would be past on through the loft just have to keep an eye on the rest now for a few days
tommiddo Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 i would say respritory phil and i would get him to treat others straight away just in case
