My birds have been very down lately and they have been really puffy in the feathering and no life at all. I have treated them for canker, cocci, a course of Parastop. I treated last week for a Yeast infection with Nystatin. I checked the birds tonight and found several small white/yellow spots in the roof of the birds mouth. I have enclosed a photo of the bird with the worst symptoms. Click on the picture to a proper look.

Yellow spots in the throat would be trich use chevi-col or spartrix make sure u treat for a sufficient lenght of time you shouldnt have a big problem as trich does not repoduce at low temperatures in the drinker.

White spots could be the end result of a previous canker infection. Yellow spots canker or possibly herpesvirus. If you've been struggling with your pigeons health think about sending a pigeon or two away to a vets even if it means the vet will have to cull them to get to the bottom of the problem.

there is a few reasons why spots appear..canker is one..but there is also spots that are salivary stones...which are nothing serious.

usually some spots indicate a recent infection of some sort ie canker etc

best to have them tested if your worried .

I used 5% Kuur+ from Travipharma. I am going to try some Spartrix tablets to see if this sorts it out.

I used it for about 10 days as recommended on the tub.

i dont know this treatment as ive never used it but looking back at what owen has said regarding in the drinker at this time of year they dont drink as much and i would think your drinkers were the same as mine over the last three weeks (frozen ) most of the day so they prob never got half what they needed thats if you put that stuff in the water

if the canker treatment you have already given it hasnt removed them then why seek further treatment, the treatment you used would have disolved them if they were canker nodules.

as i stated earlier..they may well be salivary stones..up to you but you may be treating something that needs no treatment.

read this from the chevita site

In adult pigeons, white dots appearing towards the back of the throat are not trichomonas foci. These firm, white or yellowish-grey nodules are, in fact, salivary calculi (sialoliths), formed from the hardened secretions of the mucous glands. They are harmless and should not be removed due to risk of bleeding.

You should not go and treat your birds with all that stuff. You should only ever treat when you know what you are treating for. You should get them tested properly. Treating pigeons with a cocktail like you have will cause you even more problems. All these medicines have side affects, and some of them are severe, so, goodness knows what damage you could be doing to their long term health.

If your idea is to keep racing pigeons that win races, you will need them to be as fit and healthy as you can. Doing what you are doing will ruin their chances.

And when you test and find something that needs medicine, it is important that you test after the course of medicine is finished. This to ensure that the problem is solved, finally.
