Noticed this cock has a lump on the underside of its wing butt. It was scabbed over this morning but I knocked the scap of when trying to get the picture  :-/. It sticks out just under an 1/8", bit like a wee wart.

Any ideas what it may be?

I would have it checked out, but I do not think you have anything to worry about there. Have you checked your other birds? What are the droppings like? Have you used Baytril or Amoxicillin recently? Have you vaccinated for paratyphoid? Have you used Parastop recently?

These are the sort of things only you can know, which will help you towards an opinion.

Bird seems fine, droppings fine, all other birds seem good also. Only recent treatment was for worms. Havent jagged either. Dont know if you remember the pic of the doo that had a scab on its neck, i posted it a few weeks ago. Protien lumps were mentioned then. This bird has been on all seasons resting with a little conditioning seed and about 10% bos pellets.

I'd say it's another one, Ally, burst this time, scabbing over so healing. Have seen these twice in my own birds, one bird each time, years apart and years ago.  :)

i would guess that you have picked at the lump under the wing to get rid of the black tar like stuff?

looking at the neck wound i can see there are blackish scabs on there..was there a build up of that black stuff?

only going off what i can see(i need to go to spec savers) :)..it looks likely it could be a protein problem...leave till it drops off.

anything can trigger a protein lump.....maybe a kebab? lol

Hi Paul, I never picked at the lump, the scab go nocked of when I was handling the bird.

The neck picture is an old one from November, thats the way I found it, healed up fine.

if its protein lumps they wont harm the birds but they look unsightly .

i had one on an racing hen years ago but havent had one since ,i feed high protein mixes too.

if you find ut what they are it would be nice to know for future reference :)
