ryesway Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 hi all, the first question is, what else causes dirty wattles apart respiratory ? and how many of your birds when called in from exercise have watery droppings till they have had there food then things seem to turn back to normal ? thanks ryan
Guest IB Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 In sexually mature YBs dirty wattles might be caused by them mock feeding. Birds just in from exercise rarely have enough left in their gut to form a normal dropping, so mostly liquid. If bird has flown from some distance, its digestive system also changes in the way it works and recycles water from the kidneys back through the gut; so the first dropping after the bird lands is it back to normal, its 'weird' looking, white paste + green, but its normal..
ryesway Posted August 5, 2009 Author Report Posted August 5, 2009 cheers mate that explains everything thanks for the reply rye
jimmy white Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 dirty or greazy wattles can often be caused by feeding oils on their food such as cod liver oil,, or as ib says when feeding youngsters
