Guest Owen Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 You need a microscope check. They have either canker, worms or it could be that you are feeding seed and they have some stuck in the throat. Linseed will often cause birds to yawn because they are trying to shift it from being stuck in the throat. My bet would be that they have canker. If you decide to have them checked, make sure that you have them checked again after the treatment is finished. You might be surprised how often birds are treated and the problem is only partially solved. I found a case of hair worm in some birds last year. They were treated with Moxidectin which is a very good product. I checked again after the treatment and found that the hairworm was still there. It took another two treatments before it was finally cleared up. The Fancier a Young Guy in his first season went on to win a lot of races after that. On one occasion he took the first 5 positions and on another he had the first 4. If those subsequent checks had not been done I doubt if he would have won a bladder.
