Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Well dwh i think this sport is all about luck it was luck how i got the cock and his nest mate in the first place there my two best stock cocks both breeding winners and ones called rocky and i bet you carnt guess what the other one is called !! lol And there children grandchildren and great children breed winners two you can ask gooner or lenwade bob as i think gooner scored with a couple this year down from them . but getting back to distance pigeons and sprinters . a couple of years ago i can remember geoff cooper winning a bicc national from falaise 230 miles to him a sprint race with a de weert cock and this pigeon also went on to score from pau and breed birds to win from pau also oviously that day some one forgot to tell the pigeon he was a distance bird and he must not win from such a short distance lol
dwh Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 not arguing with that luck to find birds of that quality but after that its down to you some of us agree it all comes down to feeding and conditioning
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I totally agree that it comes down to feeding hence why some novices when they first start in the sport and are prob feeding a bit to heavy they come up and win when the wind is on the nose or the distance gets a bit further .
dwh Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 we race roundabout and feed the hens with a hopper did'nt do much with the hens till then finally got one down outof channel last year gorge themselves at first then after couple of weeks they settle down and tend to eat small amounts they exercise there heads off and at last we feel we getting there
