Tony C Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 With the threat of the authorities putting my water on a meter, anyone got any tips on how I can dilute it, make it go further!!! :)
westy Posted April 11, 2006 Author Report Posted April 11, 2006 DO U JUST PREPARED THE TEA LIIKE A NORMAL TEA BUT WITH OUT MILK OR SUGER
Guest shadow Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 I only use garlic ,cider vinegar and honet on return from racing have never found the need to use anything else in the water. I put minerals and brewers yeast on the feed dampened with a little lemon juice. The less you put in the water the better then it does not restrict the amount of water the birds will take, as some are not keen to drink with anything added.
jimmy white Posted April 11, 2006 Report Posted April 11, 2006 i agree with shadow, but as i say i give mine tea as they dont get out and get a pick of the natural herbs outside,,,when i raced them ,i gave them tea on a sunday with sugar in it, they seemed to like it better like that [true]but looking back, was there any need for it/ ? the sugar would have benefited them better after the race. ;D ;D tony,c was a brilliant post, but you could allways try whisky, it does make the water go further, try it ,ill bet your happy after trying that tip ;D ;D ;D hic ;D
Guest Paulo Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 Giving mine Multivits on a Monday, then clean water rest of the week. Thinking of giving them green tea as the health benefits are supposed to be good. I'd be careful giving them black tea as it contains caffeine and this is toxic to some animals green tea contains little caffeine Going to try garlic as well dad says he used to put garlic powder on the corn don't know whether to do this or use cloves in the water? I suppose cloves will be fresher? Whats the crack with cider vinegar then what exactly are the health benefits of it? Health benefits of green tea are:- In more recent times, many studies have investigated a link between the consumption of green tea and a lower incidence of a range of cancers in populations, with mixed results. Green tea has been claimed[citation needed] to be useful for Cognition Stopping certain neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimers Preventing/treating cancer Treating Arthritis Treating MS Preventing the degradation of cell membranes by neutralizing the spread of free radicals (which occurs during the process of oxidation) Increases fat oxidation (helps the body use fat as an energy source) and raises metabolism. [2] Lowering LDL cholesterol (in high doses in lab tests) Preventing lowered T-Cells due to HIV - In lab tests, EGCG, found in green tea, was found to prevent HIV from attacking T-Cells. However, it is not known if this has any effect on humans yet. In May 2006, researchers at Yale University School of Medicine weighed in on the issue[6] with a review article that looked at more than 100 studies on the health benefits of green tea. They pointed to what they called an "Asian paradox," which refers to lower rates of heart disease and cancer in Asia despite high rates of cigarette smoking. They theorized that the 1.2 liters of green tea that is consumed by many Asians each day provides high levels of polyphenols and other antioxidants. These compounds may work in several ways to improve cardiovascular health, including preventing blood platelets from sticking together and improving cholesterol levels, said the researchers, whose study appeared in the May issue of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons. Specifically, green tea may prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol (the bad kind), which, in turn, can reduce the buildup of plaque in arteries
snowy Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 apple cider viniger how much per 2 LTRS of water please
pigeonscout Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 I never put vinegar into the water I just put it on the feed that way it is into the birds in 5 mins and not sitting in the drinker 24 hours. Also if your young birds are throwing feed them a light feed that has been soaked in vinegar then dried you will have no more problems. My method of putting vinegar on the feed to stop young birds throwing was then fine tuned by one of the top fanciers in the uk. If you want to read exactly how we to do it then read the loft report of a top flyer that uses our method. click on the link to read loft report. http://pigeonportal.webportalasp.com/spps/ahpg.cfm?spgid=17
Guest Posted January 1, 2007 Report Posted January 1, 2007 well said scout ,the only thing that should go into the water is more water and if you want to give your pigeons anything it should be put on the feed ,and the best that i have found for this is pinhead oatmeal it draws it all in and is a great carrier for anything all my supplements are given to my pigeons by this method never seen any sense in putting things in the water apart from garlic that is as its cheap but any the other stuff can be quite expensive and after they have taken a drink (reluctantly at times)the water is then chucked out (money down the drain)but the pinhead soakes it in and when fed to the pigeons they eat it ,normally i dry it off with some flour ,the best way for anyone to understand it is read how old hand makes up his golden boast that way you will be sure all your pigeons are getting the benefit ,try out putting youghart in it when they are feeding young and then watch them grow .
Guest shadow Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 garlic and cider vinegar with honey on race day return nothing else all other vitamins put on dampened seed
pigeonscout Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 stevie baby milk can do them harm I will try and find the info as to why on line for you. It has something to do with the protein in it. you see there is animal protein and vegetable protein and it is the vegetable protein that the birds need. They are not build to take large amounts of animal protein. It is a big mistake to think that if it is good for humans it will be good for birds.
Guest slugmonkey Posted January 10, 2007 Report Posted January 10, 2007 I dont give honey for the sugar I give it because it is supposed to cut the mucous from the respritory tract and help process the air better I give a lot of products in the water but NEVER on race day and I also put some things on the food I do belive that you can over do stuff in the water but I also belive that the birds get used to certain items that are regulary used ( A.C.V. garlic, honey ) but I do belive you have to take into account how much of any substance the birds are getting if you are filling the waterer 2 times a day in summer and 1 time in winter and using same amount birds are then getting twice as much in summer
