Couriers - what the fancier wants and/or expects

At end of day, bearing in mind fuel costs, wear and tear to vehicle, minimum wages + or - £5.30 per hour, administration i.e phone calls, office staff wages etc. I really don't see how any of us could even dream of being critical to any of the courier services. I would ask all of you to sit back and ask yourselves the question "would YOU work for what these couriers work for" and I bet the answer is NO. If I am wrong then why aren't there hundreds of companies out there getting in on the act. We all ought to be grateful that these couriers have applied dedication and commitment for the benefit of all of us.

And.....Thank you Bob.

Yes its hard work sometimes but when it all comes together its worth every smile we recieve upon delivery.

Mikes done over 10,000 miles in less than a month but if we didnt enjoy it, we wouldnt be doing it.

only thing i don't want is my bird in a holding loft i don't mind if i have to wait a extra  week or 2 and bird delivered within 24 hrs from point to point and given water

for me its fair might not suit all

just have a thing about holding lofts but as i say I'm willing to wait that bit longer to get my bird so should be ok courier i think

Think thats fair comment and not to much to ask   Have to agree with you on holding lofts might be ideal in some ways but think there could be lot of disadvantages only needs 1 bird with something wrong with it especially in the case of ybs   Think i would rather wait to have a bird delivered direct if it was going to have to be held i would want to know

exacilly the reason why id rather wait

The problem is that your one of the good minority at the moment.  People like you will never need to worry about deliveries because of your flexability but most can't or won't accomodate to the level you can/do.   There's also a misconception about holding lofts which needs to be discussed.

Take stray birds for example, if you keep them at the destination they're to be recovered from then that loft itself effectively becomes a 'holding loft' and you run equal risk of cross contamination if not more as some lofts aren't looked after as much as others.   With regards to organised holding lofts if enough investment and thought is put into them then they can be designed to prevent cross contamination by using lots of methods including air conditioning systems which mean each bird breaths thier own air.  Seperate water systems to take away paratyphoid, the list goes on.

Respect has to go out to you for your flexability though its people like you that might just make this transition from amtrak to multi track a little easier.   :)

this would be great but it be at a great cost to the courier i feel i maybe wrong on this also the costs on feeding and watering each indival bird now i wouldn't mind paying that few pound extra if this was the case as i spend a few pound on birds anyway but i think for most pll its all about cost and rightly so in this time with rescission and all that

but what i would say if pll could wait a extra week or so so that the courier have a multiple of runs on the one delivery

not trying to knock ure inventive way way of thinking and it maybe the way forward  but what a week or so going with out a bird that wasn't in our loft anyway

we have a multiple choice now of couriers so cant imagine we would have to wait to long

even with strays i think with this time with rescission and all that we need to help each other out a little
