john bingham Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 hi all what bloodlines/strains would u use to build an team of sprinters for upto 200 miles
rubber duck Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 some very nice looking roland jansens coming up for auction at blackpool from premier stud they sprint well to that distance
Guest bakes Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 if your anywere near warwickshire go see keith arnold he is from lemington spar he has some of the best staff van reets tops warwick fed every year plus he gets deplomers most year via rpra awards.
shoortie Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 depends on ur budget! some class koopman lines being sold in blackpool
Guest pigeon82 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i would probably use sootjens i heard theyre a good breed
soontjen Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 give some lambrechts a try i dont think you would be very dissapointed incredibly fast at the short races
adam owen Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 koopmans or wall lunt and green janseens as for the sootjens i found they are at there best from 150 to 350miles
waltzer Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i would start to look closer to home to see what breed all the people are winning with in your own fed and section year in and out and go get some off them get some off there best and start from there then start your own family ,as most pleople any were has the best birds and are willing to sell them so only you no if you are getting what you are paying for you could pay £££££ for sh@@e from some studs etc i also think any bird can be good in the right hands it is all to do with loft management and from the right stock :)some birds dont fly that good up here in northumberland compaired to down south as i think weather has alot to do with it ,at a moot last year wall lunt and green said they dont start to train there widowhood cocks till its about 19 deg well it takes awile to hit that some times up here and by the time they start to race we have had about 3,4 races in the cold
just ask me Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 my advice is to look at results as this tells all find a fancier in a bad location getting good results if u can find a fancier getting into the results when there very few in his area getting on the results page also look go to back garden fancier racing a small to medium size team
Guest bakes Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 for me i would go for staff van reets, sootjens.
demolition man Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 my advice is to look at results as this tells all find a fancier in a bad location getting good results if u can find a fancier getting into the results when there very few in his area getting on the results page also look go to back garden fancier racing a small to medium size team you won't go wrong with this advice, Regards
just ask me Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 also to add a lot of the time the best bird in the race can be down the results sheet as location wind etc will in most cases dictate the winner just remember all that glitters is not gold
Guest mick bowler Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 also to add a lot of the time the best bird in the race can be down the results sheet as location wind etc will in most cases dictate the winner just remember all that glitters is not gold very true! I've still never found and out and out sprint family, i find that if they win to 200 miles they win to 400+, albeit different birds, but i think its how the fancier sets them out that makes the difference.
Guest Owen Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 I have bought in some nice Lambrechts, some Willems and a Van Reet with a lot of performance behind him. And I am very happy so far. I have never ever had pigeons that exercise like these Lambrechts. They are flying machines. The Willems have beautiful feathering. Thick and soft, and much better than I am used to. The next job will be to train them as sprinters, which is all about them heading for the loft at speed from 3 miles or so. I have a plan worked out and I hope it works.
adam owen Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i hope it dont owen i got fly again you ha ha ;) ;)
fletch Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i would start to look closer to home to see what breed all the people are winning with in your own fed and section year in and out and go get some off them get some off there best and start from there then start your own family ,as most pleople any were has the best birds and are willing to sell them so only you no if you are getting what you are paying for you could pay £££££ for sh@@e from some studs etc i also think any bird can be good in the right hands it is all to do with loft management and from the right stock :)some birds dont fly that good up here in northumberland compaired to down south as i think weather has alot to do with it ,at a moot last year wall lunt and green said they dont start to train there widowhood cocks till its about 19 deg well it takes awile to hit that some times up here and by the time they start to race we have had about 3,4 races in the cold great advice there
blaz Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i have some good sprint birds with multiple 1st . as for strain no idea so not much help their.look around and see who is doing the winning at that distance in and around you area
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i would go for the de meyers or lambrechts i think these are bth very gd sprint familys although i eould like to get my hands on some van de brandes
Guest youngboy Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 i have soojtens!also willaimsons nice type of pigeons and are great sprinters! but next year im getting 4 cooreman jannsens!! there doing very well im my fed!!
chichichi Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 My advice would be Van reets,, these will win upto 400 miles.. lots of the sprinting strains will not go that far,, We have got the de meyers in the last 2 years,, they are super upto 250.. but the van reets have matched them every time.. but we have more van reets.. Van Reets for me as they are easy to get and you can get very good ones for little money.. the new strains are not cheap and some are way over the odds.. best of luck,, a sprint team will take 2 to 3 years to get with careful planning,, distance can take upto 5 years.. have a great 2010 ant
Guest strapper Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 as i aint one for the distance...never liked it..sprint-middle is my favoured distance..hoping my tasker pigeons and my staff van reets perform for me ...i know that i have the tools to do the job in them..ive been letting them down(i know i have)...i wont be this year! the familys mentioned ,i would buy in again if restarting.
Guest rodders Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 dont think its down to familys more feeding training and motivation we use to have soonjtens fron evans n walker which performed and won well upto 200 miles then we got some lycett gabys and have found that they can out sprint the sprinters so much so we moved the soontjens on

adam owen Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 my self and owen went to telford as they were on sale we handled lots and was very impressed we did have intentions of buying but the bidding went through the roof which ud exspect if you saw them class
