j4d3rv Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Hello there. I am inexperienced when it comes to pigeons so I'm sorry if my information is vague. I live in a new flat complex in Bristol and over the last few nights we have had a new lodger to our balcony. The bird does not seemed distressed but keeps returning and making a mess! We have noticed it has two tags, one with the prefix GB. The bird is however quite nervous, making it difficult for us to read the other tags. I don't want to try and catch it in case I do the bird any harm. If someone could please advise me as to what to do, I'd like to get it reunited with it's owner. The flats are on West Street in Bedminster if anyone is familiar with the Bristol area, and if there is anyone near who'd like to come and look after the bird, we'll be happy to give you access to catch it. Our landline is 05602482520 (it's a strange internet number but still works fine!) if someone would like to get in contact. Thank you for your time, Jade Harvey.
ChrisMaidment08 Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 hi jade i think if you could just give it some food it may well go home if not if somehow you could get number after gb it would be very helpful but thank you for notifying us on site
pjc Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 If the bird is roosting on your balcony at night could you possibly catch it? (When its dark you will be able to just pick it up) When you have it and we can have the full GB ring number then we can help you get the bird reunited. Once you have caught it please retain it in a box etc. Phil

j4d3rv Posted August 17, 2008 Author Report Posted August 17, 2008 Hi everyone. Thanks very much for your help. On the birds right foot there's a blue band with the number GB0811720 and on the left foot there's a rubber ring reading 8933. On the right outer wing there's a telephone number 01922 868 378. We've caught the little one and he's in a box with some water and food for the night. if someone could please contact me on the number given or 07980 927747 we'll happily hand it over. Thanks again for all of your advice. Jade Harvey if someone is about this hour and can collect it, I'll be up for while! If not, I'll hopefully speak to someone tomorrow.
Guest bristolkev Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 i can collect the bird from you tomorrow
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Think the missing letter in the ring number could be "B"as the club with the numbers 11720 under this prefix as the same code number,if i,m right its from Walsall, secs number 01922 647723,just thought it may be of help when you pick the bird up Kev. Have just found another club in Walsall it could belong to think it might be best until you check the ring number proper.
