Monty Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 This pigeon arrived in my garden on 18/08/08 exhausted. It has stayed in the garden, roosting in an outshed until Wednesday 11/02/09.I always check as we have two cats We have had heavy snow for the last two weeks and the day it didn't come home it was sleeting and snowed the next day. Am just a bit worried, any ideas?I know very little about pigeons. The ring with letters and numbers was green on its left leg, and it had a white band on the other.
OLDYELLOW Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 your missing a letter between 08 and the 7 without it we cant help find the owner
Monty Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 It is an N. GB08N73519. Typo! Not sure I can change it. Thank you for pointing it out. I will rewrite it
OLDYELLOW Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I have ammended your title first i thank you for the time you have put into getting to find the site , as the bird will be at risk from preditors best to keep it confined to a box or rabbit hutch or something of a similar nature to keep it safe , some water and food rice or dried peas will do for now you maybe able to get some pigeon corn from your local petshop .
OLDYELLOW Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 this is the offical R.P.R.A site click link and add birds details and yours keep the bird confined and they will contact you with the birds owners details http://www.rpra.org/Default.aspx?tabid=100 dont forget to mention your a non fancier , what area are you from someone on site near you maybe willing to help
Guest Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 hi mark hes saying hes had the bird for 6 months and its just disapeared a week a go may have headed home
Monty Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Thank you for amending the title.Unfortunately, I no longer have this pigeon. It arrived on the 18th of August, living in the garden and outshed, until last Wednesday 11th of February, when it didn't come back. Knowing nothing of pigeons, I am wondering is it is likely to return here or will it fly back to its owner ? Just worried about its whereabouts.
OLDYELLOW Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 its more than likely got itself fit and headed for home

Monty Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 Thank you for info. How long do pigeons normally stay out and about? The day it didn't come back it started snowing, would that have caused the problem?
OLDYELLOW Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 i would say the bird was flown out when it first came and finaly built its strength back and decided it was time to head for home , the snow may have made him decide he needed better shelter but i doubt it , he must of felt fit and headed for home
hotrod Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 it still may be worth reporting it,the owner he or she will be happy to know what has happened to it, and if it has got back home then, they can tell you,and you can rest easy just a thought cheers stuart
