well apart from a few of you that are willing to do something of any kind,,,where is everybody else ?

lots of you moan about not getting any of your pigeons back or lost or what ever,,,most of you here seem not to want to bother,,,,ok,if thats what you want then so be it,,,,i am going to sort my end here in bedford to help lost or injured pigeon to the best of my abilities and get what i can back to the owners !!

lets hope one day that i might pick your pigeon up that you want returned,,,i will help you yes, but,as the way i feel i will begrudge helping that person,,,,all said and done,i will only be doing it for the sake of your pigeon and if injured and reported by the member of public,i will sweet talk them to keep them on our good side, but,,,,,,not being personal here or arguing with any one,,,lots on here are really pathetic in  trying something for the pigeons sake,,,,not your sake, but, the humble pigeon !!!   as for the few of you that are willing to try and help our feathered friends,i am sure they will be greatful of your assistance in the future AND I THANK THOSE FANCIERS FOR TRYING !!

PLEASE,no nasty words or such like in reply to this, this is just the way i feel just now !

Expect so Bewtd, you would think they should be all for a stray collection service, after all they breed so many of them.

i would have thought so merlin, the main idea behind that was to assist mainly to the public when they need it most,,,thats why i said an area of eg ; 20 to 30 miles radious of me,but, can go further to help,,,its the public we want to know we care !!!

Carry on and do it Bewtd, under no circumstances is feelings on this or any other Pigeon site conductive of Pigeion Fanciers in general there is a crying need for this service,in all Countries on a nationwide basis,we have a duty to our pigeons, and the also the public,to show that we care,as of yet as far as I am aware pigeons are not a commidity, like most items in to days society,to be thrown away, sooner we wake up and realize this, maybe the public might have a better opinion of us.

The word I would use Bewtd is APATHY,watch how often it can be used when it comes to the welfare of the birds.

Spot on again Merlin.

I will, would, and have always helped in any way poss regards helping fanciers and / or fancy. That said, I am at the mo in no position to be of use in this regards...

But, as of now, I can assure any and everyone if I am able I will. May well be things alter soon, then I will push my plate upto the ockney no doubt.

I travel a 100 odd miles to collect my strays - when reported - andwas able to recently only too please to either A. take a bird to owner, or have released near it's home.

But like I say, things constantly seem to change, so ...

What about an Article in local Newspaper, likewise with Local Radio,to give yourself a kickstart, also Councils/R.S.P.C.A.,notify Vets in area, and any Bird/Animal Shelters.

If any of you have ever had dealings with bird sanctury's that help birds of all kind, pigeon fanciers are there pet hate as so many fanciers just don't want them back especialy if they have been injured!

that would be a good enough reason for me to step in and help,,,then the public and bird sanctuarys would think a lot better of us pigeon fanciers,,,very good one pjc

Unfortunately that is true we got one down here they had aviary full of strays last time i went there which they had bought into them and got better only to be told we dont want them   It makes you feel ashamed to think we got members like that especially when you see all the work and charity events they have to do to keep the place running

well rose,,i think these fanciers should be made to pay for the amtrak to get them back wether they like it or not,,,its there responsibility not the sanctuarys fault, where is the sanctuary situated rose ?

Posted

over the years we have picked up a couple of our own birds from sancturys and it does make you feel ashamed when you see the other racers there that have not been claimed or are not wanted.

Posted

I'm willing to help out my dads got the room for me to put up a stray loft at his place we're near Louth in lincolnshire he already has plenty of people bringing strays to him

Posted

all fanciers should be ashamed treating birds like that,,,there the best birds if there winning, but,if something goes wrong or birds get injured, these same fanciers are just pathetic and should be up in front of the rpra to explain why they tell the public or sanctuary or any one why they dont want them anymore !!!!!
