ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 yes it needs tacking back on where the weld has broken, but if your going to do that you just as well renew and be done with it.it will last for years then. looks like its had bang in side the frame looks out line thats why i ask
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 think they go out back phil loooks like one used to be in pill could be wrong useualy am
pjc Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 would be better if sides dropped, 75 birds a layer trying to get out 1 at a time wouldn't be good, the first birds would be ok but the birds still in the trailer will be going at the wire to get out! (more stress for the birds)
paul10121968 Posted October 19, 2008 Author Report Posted October 19, 2008 this looks like more than tacking work and its a shame you havn't a pic showing the side open for release. the mud guards are very heavy and are attached to the mesh of the bottom tier.i think over the years it probably has been banged a few times and pushed the mesh in.it has also had a few quick patch up jobs done to it along the way by the look of it,i believe that the mudguards and the mesh on the bottom tier should be stripped out and replaced on both sides,if you are able to weld i dont think it would be a hard job to do except for the cost of mesh and metal for mudguards.i will take some new photos tommorow, some further close ups of damage and with the sides down also.the trailer has only been in my possession for about 6 months,i have,nt used it myself, but i did pull it from the old owners to my house and i couldnt relly feel it on the back end of my car.it was empty i dont know what it would be like full.
harky Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 you can buy plastic mudguards that bolt on and save yourselves a lot of money and unnecessery work
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 think they go out back phil loooks like one used to be in pill could be wrong useualy am it is pills old one but looks like lyndon bridles old trailer as well not like that last time i saw it at pill club
paul10121968 Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 i have decided to withdraw the trailer from the swap shop,it is going to our local garage tommorow to have some work done to it to improve the way that the birds are released and to have the bottom tier mesh and mudguards replaced with new material.i have been assured that there is no structual damage to the frame of the trailer so if it has been in an accident it must have been a light one.once all improvements have been completed i will offer it up for sale to whoever may be interested.thank you all for your input/suggestions which was what i wanted to make the trailer safe and comfortable for birds.
pjc Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 thats a shame, i've found a pair of fantails to swop for it.
paul10121968 Posted October 26, 2008 Author Report Posted October 26, 2008 trailer has now been promised, thank you all for your interest/comments.
