frank-123 Posted July 16, 2007 Report Posted July 16, 2007 whats a sensible offer £50,£500 £5000 give the buyer a clue what you would accept say a price or nearest offer to your price you would like never know it might sell quicker good luck
timbarra Posted July 17, 2007 Author Report Posted July 17, 2007 well considering most fanciers want something for nothing bart, i guess everyone nearly would be happy to give me £50 for him, but as I value the pigeon I would be happy to get £5000 for him. so bids will be considered from £130 upwards... so start bidding people . I would be glad to leave him in my breeding loft if not sold.. logic shall prevail.
timbarra Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 TSKYES , you can start at whatever price you like m8, you will not be getting yourself a champion pigeon at that price. I sell he's youngsters at £100 each !!! like I said before pigeon fanciers always want something for nothing. :-/
ACE LOFTS Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 are u saying that u would put a price of £5000 for him
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Spencer, I am a pigeon fancier and yes i would love to have something for nothing. You cut your cloth how it suits, if you can afford to pay through your nose good luck to you. I'm always fascinated by this term 'timewaster', I can only think the definition is that if you don't buy the pigeon you are a timewaster. the seller's objective is to sell and if you ain't sold to an enquirer s/he is by definition a timewaster. If you are prepared to put a bird up for sale then you take the territory that goes with that surely?? Including enquiries from people who you may never sell to! The other thing of course perhaps is it stops probing questions/ thoughts being asked........like how many winners has it bred, at what age did they win, at what distance and at what level..........oh and its 12 and filling one every other, so 13 next year and has to come to a completly new loft, of course it will continue to fill at 13, won't it?? Sorry wouldn't give you a fiver for it, on the basis of the information you supplied, i would have grabbed the £100 you were offered with open arms..........but i remember you suggesting to Jack Barkel he should provide his work free..........perhaps if that is a principle you believe in you could do the same with this old fellow? cause someone might catch a cold paying a lot of money for him Alan
mark Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 TSKYES , you can start at whatever price you like m8, you will not be getting yourself a champion pigeon at that price. I sell he's youngsters at £100 each !!! like I said before pigeon fanciers always want something for nothing. :-/ try taking a leaf out of swilcox book when he posts he puts pictures up often if not sold reduces the price.
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Mark agreed 100% , each time I've handled Stuart's birds i've always been impressed and whatever words may have been said. I (for what it's worth) would reccommend Stuart as a man who sells quality and is a pretty good judge of to (out of my price range though :-/), Spencer's advert doesn't have the same good feel that Stuart gives.
tskyes Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 COULD NOT OF PUT IT BETTER MYSELF ALBEAR THE MAN SAID OFFERS STARTING AT £130 WOULD BE CONSIDERED SO I MADE AN OFFER I COULD AFFORD,COULD PROBABLY OF GONE ABIT HIGHER BUT AFTER YOUR COMMENTS TIMBARRA I HOPE HE DOES STAY IN YOUR LOFT !
timbarra Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 TSKYES if you can only afford £100 then thats all you can offer, I not getting at that , maybe you could have possibly worded things differently , but maybe so could i. well i shall decline your offer of £100 and thank you for that offer sorry. ALBEAR my self and MR Barkel disagree on a number of things, so i would appreciate it if you did not go over old ground irrelivant to the thread. you seem argumentative and your way is your way. there is a picture of the cock on my web site for all who need to inspect him, as for filling he's eggs, there are no sure things in life but am confident he will breed if looked after wherever he goes , if he goes. as for having a feel good factor about my advertising of the pigeon, i am not here to make anyone feel good, and there are people on this site and all over the U.K and Europe who have delt with me and purchased birds from me , who are of a different opinion than the one you have. if you want to feel good go on holiday and enjoy the sun !!! Mark I do not wish to take a leaf from anybodys book, i am my own man and thats that. you have not offended me and hope i have not offended you either, did you not enquire about pigeons from me ...? maybe a different mark? :-/
tskyes Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 will start at £100 READ THIS AGAIN TIMBARRA,I'M SURE IT SAYS WILL START AT £100,DOES IT NOT ?
timbarra Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 YES AND I SAID IT WILL START AT £130 , BUT NOT TO WORRY , HE IS ALL BUT SOLD.
timbarra Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 albear please accept my apology for calling you a name which is not true. i am sorry.
Guest Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Spencer your regular position harsh words and then an apology, usually followed by I will leave this site followed by another set of harsh words. I am content with my comments, and previous posts are absolutely relevant when they are contradictory. Trouble maker, maybe, but I have seen nothing in your replies for me to change my mind and say I was wrong. Good luck if you've sold it, As I mentioned to someoene who e mailed me privately we all like to make some money out of our birds and I have no truck with that but when you were criticisng Jack for making money out of what he does its a bit rich you telling pigeon fanciers they want something for nothing.
mark Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 albear please accept my apology for calling you a name which is not true. i am sorry. then why call it? thats the second time this has happened,
schouwman71 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 ive looked at your site timbarra, and i am really impressed with the old blood of vanden bosch you have, but to be all honest i wouldnt feel that good trying to sell a pigeon that old even though he is a champion pigeon in is own right, after all he deserves to stay were he belongs and pass away there, thats my honest opinion anyway.good luck with hin.
timbarra Posted July 20, 2007 Author Report Posted July 20, 2007 schouwman, Thank you for your comment and as i only have a 30 foot loft and only keep a small number of birds on the loft I cannot afford to keep them all and overcrowd, its just not me, so i give people the oppotunity to aquire some top class birds for not such a high price, but yes if i had a section for pigeons i could retire possibly , then i would not let him go. but thanks for your message and advice , regards spencer

timbarra Posted July 24, 2007 Author Report Posted July 24, 2007 sold it privately, not to any one on this site, the guy has not got a computer even !!!! so dont stick your oar in when you dont even know who your talking to. ;D
