PigeonClarke Posted October 10, 2007 Report Posted October 10, 2007 West of England Tumblers for sale, mostly young birds so unsure on sex of them.
PigeonClarke Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 are these flying or show birds ???? Show but they do fly
chunks Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 hi i was looking for some west of england tumblers but wasnt sure about show birds as i had a pair a few years ago and they would,nt fly im sam i live in the northeast
ally mac Posted October 31, 2007 Report Posted October 31, 2007 When I first got pigeons a few years ago I was given a couple of show wests. They were good flyers but I only ever saw one of the tumble. He did it for a few days and stopped again. They were good flyers though. Al.
DOVEScot Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 Is there not a part where they mimic and learn from each other :-/
ally mac Posted November 1, 2007 Report Posted November 1, 2007 I would sometimes fly mine with the rollers but they never really cottoned on. The were from show stock though. Al.
bewted Posted November 2, 2007 Report Posted November 2, 2007 THERES A BIG DIFFERANCE IN SHOW WESTS AND FLYING PERFORMING WESTS !!!! THATS A FACT !!!!!!
storm rollers Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 bewted is right show westis are terrible flyers
PigeonClarke Posted November 3, 2007 Author Report Posted November 3, 2007 Its only the size of a west which stops them flying high. If you get two small ones and use them as I have done they perform better than any. I have a kit of 16 wests flying and tumbling at the moment and theyre breed from te smaller in my show stock. And bewted's statement is wrong there is no difference betwween show and flying wests. Size varies but the difference stops there
retired Posted November 3, 2007 Report Posted November 3, 2007 thwe westie that got out the show pe at doncaster show today was certainly a flyer lol
bewted Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Its only the size of a west which stops them flying high. And bewted's statement is wrong there is no difference betwween show and flying wests. Size varies but the difference stops there i beg to differ on your statement,,,,there is a vast differance between the two types of birds,,,,,,maybe they look the same and breed the same, but, for performance wise,,,,there vastly differant,,,,TRUE !!!!!!!
PigeonClarke Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 There isnt two types of west there the same breed some may perform better than others but they are still the one type...There is no such thing as a performing or show west
DOVEScot Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 i beg to differ on your statement,,,,there is a vast differance between the two types of birds,,,,,,maybe they look the same and breed the same, but, for performance wise,,,,there vastly differant,,,,TRUE !!!!!!! I think he is basically saying the only difference is the size, large for show and small for flying, obviously a grey area inbetween :-/
bewted Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 I think he is basically saying the only difference is the size, large for show and small for flying, obviously a grey area inbetween :-/ yes dovescot but,try to get real show birds to fly and they wont perform as good as flying, performing wests,,!!! same as show rollers and perfoming rollers, show rollers will not perform the same as flying rollers and were in my statement did i say they were differant breeds of pigeon ????? ted !!!!!
PigeonClarke Posted November 5, 2007 Author Report Posted November 5, 2007 yes dovescot but,try to get real show birds to fly and they wont perform as good as flying, performing wests,,!!! same as show rollers and perfoming rollers, show rollers will not perform the same as flying rollers and were in my statement did i say they were differant breeds of pigeon ????? ted !!!!! You really dont get this. Performing and show rollers are two completly different breeds, just look at them, they dont resemble each other at all. You cant compare them. Yes you do say of two different breeds you're calling one a show west and one a performing west. Thats wrong there is one type of west and yes the bigger ones i.e the better ones for showing dont perform well but the smaller ones which can still be good show birds are just as good as any. My point is there is one type of west not a show and performing one like a roller or tippler.
bewted Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 performing and show wests are one breed ,but, bred for a differant purpose,ONE FOR SHOW,ONE FOR PERFORMANCE !!!!! BUT,STILL ALL WESTS !!!! LIKE TIPPLERS,ROLLERS OR WHATEVER BREED !!!!! LIKE RACING PIGEONS !!!!! LONG DISTANCE,SHORT DISTANCE,SPRINT !!!!! STILL ALL RACING PIGEONS !!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE WESTS !!!! PERFORMING OR SHOW BIRDS,,,,STILL ALL WESTS ,BUT ,BRED FOR DIFFERANT PURPOSE !!!!
bewted Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 PLEASE READ MY PREVIOUS MAIL ON HERE!!!! WHERE DID I SAY TWO DIFFERANT BREEDS OF WESTS ?????????? I SAID,NOTE;TWO DIFFERANT TYPES NOT AS YOU SAY TWO DIFFERANT BREEDS SO,GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE SAYING ANYTHING ELSE ON HERE FIRST !!!!!
The White Rapido Man Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 ditto....Bewted Same birds...just bred for a different purpose........ you've only got to look a for instance one of Goeff Davies show B-Rollers......and a flying B- Roller................they look completely different....bit are still B-rollers!
storm rollers Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 ted some people just cant be educated mate i am with you on this wat you have said is 100% true
PigeonClarke Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 performing and show wests are one breed ,but, bred for a differant purpose,ONE FOR SHOW,ONE FOR PERFORMANCE !!!!! You haven't said anything in the first paragraph that i haven't said. But then you compare rollers and tipplers to wests in terms of them being the same breed, there not, an exhibition tippler and flying tippler like ex rollers and flying rollers have two different standards, one for the flying and one for the exhibition so how can they be the one breed. And where does ireland or anyones country come into this discussion.

An exhibition birmingham roller is the proper name obviously. And could you point out where ive said something and meant another.
bewted Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 so,its still a birmingham roller then ? not asking the type of roller but the breed of roller !!!!!!!!
