Bit of a long story but basicly I went off to an auction today to buy some bits and pieces like water/ feeders/ baskets etc in readyness for my new loft and birds that I am getting in next few weeks.

Having got my baskets and some other bits I wondered over to the livestock section where there were all sorts of rabbits chickens geese etc, I even spotted what I think were half a doz rollers of some sort who were all happily cooing away.

As I walKed down the line of birds I came to a cage that had a sticker saying Show Racers, inside contained what I thought were to lovly looking birds but they did look terrified, right next door was something I had not come accross before his sign read Magpie cock, I stood back from the cages to admire both sets of birds when I was pushed passed by some fellow who imediatly went up to the magpie cock and tried to pock it with his pen, as if that wasnt bad enough he then produced some sort of small bird(quail) and tried shoving it in the M/ Cocks face, to say he went balistic is an understatement, but then again so did I, unfortunatly the idiot with the pen and quail did not understand much English, but he got the message when I eventially lossened my grip on his throat, anyway  an hour later he was still at the sale and so was I and I was determined that he was not going home with any of these birds, eventually the lot numbers came round to these lots and after a flury of bidding between me and the pen man I ended up winning all the lots, I daresay to dear  in monitry terms but hey this was personall now id saved em and that was all I was really bothered about.

if any of you good people on here have any interest in them then please just pm me with what you consider a fair offer, as I honestly dont know the value of this type of pigeon and the best offer I get by Friday at 7.00 oclock can have them.

the racers as one lot and the M/cock as the other lot.

I will make a donation to the site if the birds sell on here

Thanks for looking, Regards SPORTKA (CHRIS).

ps any info on the Magpie cock would be of interest, as to why this man was trying to make it be aggresive, do they use them like some of these cruel scumbags use cockralls? hope not but any info would be good.

The show racers look quite good to me,but where are you based?

The magpies, personally not seen 1 that colour, usually black and white [hence magpie i suppose!],you could try Kevin Pratt who runs the Magpie breed club tel 01235-868869.Would suggest the going rate for all the birds would be between £10-£20 each.

Think it was a great thing you did helping these birds, wish there were more fanciers that showed as much compassion :)

Have to admire you for your actions , a bird lover if ever there was one, well done on taking the birds and I hope whoever gets them from you shows as much care for them as you surely did.

"The Magpie is a slim, shallow-bodied bird that carries itself very vertically. They breed well and are reliable feeders of their young. The beak is long and flesh-colored. The finest Magpies are often the Blacks, but they appear in other colors including Yellow, Blue, Dun, and Silver. In England, the Magpie was often called the "Queen of the Pigeons."
