The 2 meallys are a dream to handle and are absolutely gorgeous, they would make excellent feeders as well, they would add a bit of beauty round any loft .

I have no experience of show birds but tell me what do you look for when acquiring good show stock, do you have strains, champion pigeons, etc?? The perfect pigeon???

Well just like with racing pigeons you look for the best winning strains and the 2 blue chequers come from arguably the most sucessful 2 studs in Britain. There is no written standard for racers or show racers to be judged by like there is in many of the fancy breeds but as a general rule you want a bird that handles well,ie feels balanced and in proportion in the hand, nice silky feathers, good comformation, good stance, has a nice bold head with an eye that compliments it,the list goes on but of course everyones idea of "the perfect pigeon" differs and personal preferances are bound to come into play at some point especially regarding colour, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose!.

When it comes to showing though the same can often be said as is said about racing in so much as you can give an idiot the best pigeon in the world and it won't win a thing, likewise you can give a good fancier an average pigeon and he/she can win with it, it's alot to do with your ability to create a settled environment and regime condusive to producing "show condition",just the same principles really as for racing.
