  3. This is what the Rodney has posted on other sites

My name is Rodney McCormick and i fly with Portavogie HPS and Cloughey HPS. While letting my young birds out last Friday ( 6/5/11) they took off and approximately 45 of them didn't return. Ring numbers start at IHU 2011 N 19411 to 19470 so could all fanciers please be on the lookout as this is the majority of my YB racing team for this season. I can be contacted on 07596296464 at any time and will arrange collection. So heres hoping we find some! Thanking you, Rodney.

  4. New start to the sport had a fly away and has lost 40 + young birds his ring numbers IHU-2011-N-19411 to IHU-2011-N-19470 Please keep an eye out for this mans birds as he only started in the sport last year and this lost has all but wiped him out for this years young bird racing.

  5. My good friend John Gerard the one in the white shirt holding one of the winners trophies after winning the biggest one loft race in Thailand (The Kings cup) at the weekend.

  6. I think that if it was made clear to fanciers that the vaccine does not stop the birds from getting paratyphoid.

They could then treat for it instead of ruling it out as some do because the birds have been vaccinated.

I treat before pairing and then again before racing and yes I treat blind not a good thing to do but guilty all the same.

  7. fred smyth, I have no doubt that the man is a talented flyer and I believe you when you say that he knows a thing or two about the health issues of pigeons. It is his attitude I get fed up with. I do not think any of us have as much knowledge as we would like. And most of us are keen to add to our store of information to make us better at what we are interested in. To do that, I think it would be a good idea to offer facts and opinions on the things we are all concerned with. I resent being lectured to and I soon get fed up with people who want to talk down to the rest of us. And I find it annoying when someone tries to actually make a fool of others who are doing their best to help.

So, in the spirit of co-operation, I will leave it at that. I mean no hard feelings toward anybody and certainly not towards someone I have never met. But can I suggest that your friend tries a little harder to discuss things rather than give us all lectures.

Owen are you the only one that can have an option.  If someone disagrees with your option is that giving a lecture?  Owen why don’t you just put this disagreement to rest by showing me proof that the vaccine will stop birds from getting paratyphoid and I will be the first to put my hands up and admit I was wrong.

I will be the first to use a vaccine that will stop my birds from getting paratyphoid so until you are anyone else can show me they do prevent birds form getting  it and not just help with the symptoms  I will continue to cure it if and when they get it.

  8. I spoke with chevita who make the live vaccine for salmonella yesterday and this is there response to the link that pigeonscout posted:

    Dear Mr. Edwards,

We thank you for your message and the information on discussions

regarding vaccination against salmonellosis in pigeons.

Our vaccine CHEVIVAC-S was introduced to the market in 1996.

Therefor, it was certainly not considered in the study published in

    1991.

    Yours faithfully

So as you can see you cant base that article on what is now available I have done the same with columbovac and will post there response once i get a reply from them.

Ask them what I ask, Will their vaccine prevent  your birds from getting paratyphoid? if so can they forward you the information contained in the study carried out that confirms their vaccine stops pigeon form getting paratyphoid this.

  9. I dont know what your were reading but i read were its designed to give Immunity to the pigeons what are vaccinated with the vaccine

It says nothing about will only help with the symptoms if the have the diesese ???

Indication: For active immunisation by racing pigeons against (symptoms caused) by Salmonella

So not against Sammonella but only symptoms caused

  10.

If you stand by this them name the people you have spoken with and we will pout this to rest once and for all by speaking with them again.

    http://pigeonclinics.com/default.asp?ContentId=1745&LanguageId=44&MainProductId=99&st=1&pt=Paratyphoid+vaccine

Just as the report says it will not stop them from getting it,  just help with the symptoms if they get it.

Indication: For active immunisation by racing pigeons against symptoms caused by Salmonella Typhimurium.

Bytril on the other hand will cure paea when they get it so what is the point?

  11.

If you read the top corner you will see that was a publication in 1991

I am afraid times has changed since then vaccines and medications has inproved a lot since then !!!

It is the same today as it was then nothing has changed called or email any of the makers and ask them as I have done and you will find that findings in that report still stands.
