I find they can be OK or slow to lay when you get a cold spell , paired up a fortnight gone Monday and about 2 thirds laid and they are healthy and in good nic . A mate paired his up a couple of weks before me when the weather was better and his laid no bother .I cannot remember a spell of weather as bad in 20+ years ,what I have found we had the lights on for the stock birds 2 weeks before pairing up from 5.30 am till daylight his did help as we now have 17 from 20 stock pairs laid ( a number of these fist time together).
