Jimmy I am vaccinating with noblis for prevention of paramyxovirus, the pigeon that had meningitis highlighted some facts to us from the vet and members advice on the site enen though we don't race birds Contacted Tom Pennicote yesterday and concluded the facts on meningitis, Meningitis is the result of a number of different problems, Paramyxo and Salmonela being just two of them, Our birds cultures tested negative for both

Aye, we used to use antifreeze in the pits, soak bread in it, only trouble is keeping it fom other animals, wasnae a problem in the pits

Don't know how many fields of colour they can see but they can recognise different colours I was at a bird show which included trained pigeons, they had them trained to associate different colours to different tasks, one being at the end of their free flying display he displayed a colour and they all returned to their loft, they said that this colour they associated with being fed Sad but true :-/

pigeons are meant to race not just sit in the pen and look at I don't thing pigeons are meant to race but agree they are not meant to be penned in just to look at One of the origonal reasons for keeping pigeons was to supply meat through the winter no doubt people started competing between each other, some started racing and some started showing off their stock to bring us to where we are today Horses for coarses, at the end of the day they are just all genetically modified rock doves On the milton front, babies bottles are steralised in it and this being its main use for years, but I don't think a spoonful in their bottle would be good for them, by all means use it to clean your dishes but sure good clean fresh water is the best, unless you come from a region that recycles it like london, recycled up to three times I think What do you put in your own drinking water, nothing like todays pigeons get I bet, all these additives I think are wrong, if they are bleach based then it does not kill just the bad bacteria but the good. Then you have to adminnester probiotics to balance the gut

After loosing our nestling to meningitis we are going to vaccinate for the first time chickadee's doves that are in the cotes and all her fancy pigeons are in 3 different small lofts We are going to work round all the birds in sections and keep them in, to make sure we got them all as majority are pure white We are not sure how long to keep all , if at all, birds seperated till vaccine has taken effect. Doves in cotes are out all the time but can be easily netted in, most fancies are let out every day so all the birds mingle Any advice appreciated

I beleive that you cantacted the sacc, just don't see the point in quetioning whether I had contacted them, then posting the above So I ask again Jimmy whats your point Why not post the number of the SACC for us all to use please and save further confusion

Jimmy What's your point One; Are you making me oot to be a liar, not the best idea you've had Two; I never mentioned the sacc it was the Royal vet 0131 650 100, they told me to contact 0131 535 3130, they told me to contact 0131 445 6169 which turned out to be the VLA Three; you would be better help if you posted the vets comments on the diagnosis Four; for future reference, you keep telling us about your contacts why not just share your knowledge and post the names and contact numbers
