Hi, Having worked in Mesa, Pheonix, Arizona I know the vast difference in location, from downtown to the suburbs to old towns In Mesa it would not matter where you put your loft the pigeons would bake anyway where as in Snowflake and Pinetop you would batten down you loft for the winter Position your loft where the birds are going to get plenty of light, make sure your vents are not towards the prevailing winds to stop the damp weather being blown in, I assume yours comes from the south west and the cold from the north west? Are you in the north beside the lakes or the south. I take it from the swamp in your garden it is quite damp in your area

Sammy wild hawks are only doing what is natural, my beef is with the authorities that protect them to a point we are over run with them in certain areas. And the fact if one becomes a nuisance around your stock whatever it is you should be able to protect it. If I thought for one second Eagleowl and Brianm were letting their captive ones loose on our pigeons then it would be different If I had the knowledge and time etc I would gladly have an eagle owl to ward off predators, or a tawny to feed on the rats and mice. But I imagine it is not that easy. I would be off my head to get a female sparrow hawk if I kept pigeons, all falconers are not the same or keep the same birds :-/

I heard tonight that DEFRA rules state that birds should not be sold at shows, sales or auctions. they are still banned. They said that no one has informed them of any rule changes. Is this the case or have rules been changed or relaxed. And DEFRA has not notified everyone?

I think you could put all the same food/feeding theories into any creature and cross reference them, strong, fast, endurance ect all require the same elements. But the actual breakdown some of the this report shows is interesting to some regards quantities and breakdown of groups
