Don"t think many members have grasped the original point of this thread, this fault was not the fault of any member.
unikon have identified a potential fault in a batch of clocks with serial numbers between 29000 & 31000.
problem is they cant/wont tell you what the fault is.
if this problem had occurred in car manufacture, the vehicles would have been recalled and the faulty part replaced free of charge.
it would appear that potentially faulty clocks are not being replaced until they actually go faulty.
with so many national races taking place at this time of year, would you be happy getting home a fancied bird which could possibly be winning you hundreds or even thousands of pounds, only to find it hasnt in fact been timed in.
i would be very unhappy, especially if i had been told months earlier by the manufacturer that this potential fault had been identified, and could affect my timing system at any time.
dosen"t fill you with much confidence!.
i haven"t posted this to get at anyone, but merely to point out that most replies have been along the lines of outlining how the system should be set up and operated when the original thread was about an already identified fault in clocks with the serial numbers stated above.
all our club clocks fall within the group concerned.
in my opinion all our club systems should be replaced.
